I want to try out golf
I have never played golf before (except PC golf) and want to try it out. Now I need to buy stuff so that I can go out there on the grass and swing like Tiger Woods.
So fellow golf tigers please advise me on what to buy for cheap to have everything under 200 dollars.

Still no response?
I would suggest you to contact Hossain Md. Ershad. He is a golf fan and now as days as he is back to single, he may have some time to teach you all the tricks.

His favorite ground- Kurmitola Golf Course- he can beat Tiger Woods there- coz he's given the ball boys so much money- that they'll put a golf ball in every hole when no one's looking especially par 4s and par 5s and he'll end up winning with about 55 per round!

wow $200 budget is great.
As a beginner all you need is a driver, a 3 wood, an 8, a 7, a 3 iron. a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and putter. Buy a used set from ebay or look at the local news paper adds(used). it should cost you less than 70 bucks.
And also need a bag. without it they won't let you enter any course.
I would recommend first use the driving range. There you don't have to have any clubs. They will provide all the clubs. Once you can get the ball high above the ground they you plan to buy a club set.
Best way to play a course: in the summer most of the golf course closes by 6 or 7pm. sneak in after that and play till you can't see anymore. That way you don't have to pay. many do that. watch and see the course you want to play. I am sure there will many doing that.
Good luck!! Playing in PC and in real life is "akash patal tofat". i am sure you will hooked in one day. The first swing you take be very careful. Let me know if you can connect the ball. (I am serious - I haven't found anyone yet who was able to do that) i am here to help you in case you need any (tips).

Oh! also you need to buy whole bunch of balls cause you will lose them once you go to an actual course.
The green fees are expensive. Usually runs $15 - $45 with cart. no need for the cart. use the 11 # bus (walk). But in the driving range, you can rent a bucket of ball with $5, 10, 15. (sm 30 balls, med 50 balls, lg 70 balls - buckets). Can't wait to hear from you!!

Thanks Cats_Eye for you suggestion. I bought RAM G Forge the whole set(1,3,5 woods,3-PW,putter) with the bag for $130 and went to the driving range last night.
Although I missed the first 2 shots, was able to play afterwards. Sad part is I already broke my 3 wood it is one with the graphite shaft and broke at the bottom joint.
Since I am a lefty my balls keep spinning and going to the left . but I was able to hit a couple of them straight pass 220 mark with the 5 wood, is that good or bad? Used 5,4 irons but got pissed when some of the hits where hitting the bottom of the shaft and the ball goes rolling in the right side for me (lefty).
I still need to know my swing power and be able to control the distance with the swing I guess. Otherwise for me it looks like I can use any club to take it to the distance I want to.
Is the 3 wood very important, or can I use the 5 wood or the hybrid 3 iron to accomplish the same thing I would use the 3 wood for?
Anyway will try again and let you know my progress.

That is excellent. it is a fade and you will cut it in the future. But you need to jump around for your first day performance.

That happens almost to everyone 99.9%. So don't be discouraged. Concentration. absent mindedly watch your swing and ball stricking.

You plan to turn pro in couple of months? wow! at that rate you will.

I am not sure how you start your practice. but always start with streaching yourself. Entire body few times. then swing with PW 8, 7 ...and gradually work your way upto Driver. the other way around and you will hurt yourself. (back muscle). use a glove.

If you use the Rubber tee and mat at the driving range then sometimes try to go to the side and use your own "T" on the grass (drivers and woods only). For the rest of the clubs, throw the balls around the ground and practice. Thats more like real shots on the golf course. How is your putting coming along? Do you watch golf channel? that can help tremendously - good tips. Also try to watch Tiger and Mickelson (lefty). They play the most imaginary shots among the lot. The commentators then break down their stands, club face, etc.
