Default Shahadat was always going to be more effective than Baysha.

The fact that Mashrafe and Baysha was unfit gave us the option to examine Shahadat and Rasel to even finer details and the mere fact that Shahadat got wickets in spin friendly srilanka pitch means that he should be even more effective in pacer friendly wickets.

Anwyay we should persist with Shahadat in the long run.

The openning pair did more than what was expected. Don't blame on them. 4/48 how much more you want? Even Mash/Paposh bowling you can not expect that. So please blame where the blame should go. Fielding and spin attack.

Check the English bowling in the ashes. How many overs did Harmi bowl in day? Shahadat did great, I would say better than anyone (fast bowler). Taposh bowls loads of no-balls.

i think its fair to say taposh is not same product Shahadat is and taposh is obviously the die-heart medium pacer who tries his best but given his limitations there is very little he can do at this level but i must admit there is a tendency among us to resist change like the Aussie selectors but even they had enough ... only 1 series loss ( 2 -1) was good enough to trigger the changes whereas we keep losing series after series and still say that we should keep Shahadat warming the side bench whereas taposh should open the bowling with Mash.

And that is precisely the problem with the BD team.. you play one (just one) innings and then win hearts of the crowd..

And then you play 50 innings that my grandma could even better..

To me, rasel is a better prospect than shahadat. depending on what i've learn so far, shahadat has everything a fast bowler need to become successful, except one: brain.

he needs to straighten up his thought of how to bowl cleverly, not just fast. but he can learn those with time. on the other hand, if rasel can check those no bals and get some more experience he can be the answer to bangladesh's long wanted left arm quicky.

taposh is a fighter. don't write him off too early. he might bounce back anytime just to make life harder for rasel. which is, of course a welcome thing.

but now, it can be safely said, once taposh and mashrafee comes back, good bye talha.

Shahadat did not get enough scopes to demonstrate his strengths and weaknesses in England series. But this time he is getting that scope.

I am sorry to say... he has got some serious lackings in his attitude and consistancy. He loses his line and length very easily and loses his temper even more easily. And with every delivery, he reacts little bit like Tino Best (I hope you people remember him very well!) as if he bowled the best delivery in the world but the 'dumb' batsman somehow defended it and pissed him off.

He still has a long way to go to become a matured responsible bowler. This is very tough top level cricket and he probably has to learn that the hard way. Only then we can take adavantage of all the talents that he has.

according to coach mcinnings, he consistantly bowled 90-92 mph. yes, he might be called fast. if u are concerned about the speedometers shown in this series, don't worry. a medium pacer with right attitude and brain is much more useful than the ones with express speed but airhead.

I think Baysha is B Aysha ( which is short of Begum Aysha). The only thing I found about her in the web is:

Don't know how its related to Shahadat or his bowling effectiveness though.

Rasel seems like an excellent swing bowler. I never expected him to perform like this in SL. He bowled even better with BD A in England due to the pitch there. Shahadat has raw power and passion but he needs to use his head. We need Andy Roberts immediately after the SL tour. Shahadat needs a lot of guidance from a world class fast bowler like him. He can even help Rasel improve. Shahadat+Rasel+Mortaza can be our fierce trio in fast bowling. I have a lot of respect for Tapash. He is a genuine hard worker. Even he can benefit if Andy arrives. I think he also needs the right guidance.

85 mph is fast for bd standard. attitude is shahadat's problem. much like ashraful. but i think he will learn. he is more potent than taposh. if Bd uses 3 pacers, i would have opened with mash and rasel and shahadat 1st change.

McGarth is much slower than Rawalpindi Express but MG gets the wickets.

You do not have to be super fast to get wickets. What helps is a mix of swing (preferably the late kind), accuracy and variation. Look what a pair of the Pakistani (now retired) bowlers accomplished late in their career when speed began to decline.

I think Shahadat is begining to realize that speed without accuracy is a futile combination, He is probably sacrificing speed to achieve a greater measure of control. If so, this is a good news for BD cricket.
