Batting Techniques
I am shocked at the amount of technical deficiences your batsman have?
What is Mortazas foot work all about? He just plants his feet on leg stump and hangs the bat out, anything on target will knock him over.
You need a quality batting coach because your batsmans techniques are shoddy and not good enough certainly for English conditions.
Geoff Boycott on commentary was ripping the technqiyes to shreds, your batsman could of learnt something from it.
As for the bowling!! I though Mortaza and Shadahat were brilliant and fast, they have been medium pace and cannon fodder.
3 day test here we come.

You don't know the quality of Bangladeshi players fully yet.. there is a huge chance of a two day test if England want.

rob....please don't rub it in...have mercy
Yes, I think most of the fans are not at all surprised to hear your comments about our batsmen. We all knew that. But we are just eternally optimistic bunch, somehow expecting all the deficiencies of our cricket would go away overnight!

Yes, Wen Mattau from Sri Lanka (check spelling) has been our batting coach - appointed on different tours. Although I'm not sure if he's with the team right now on this tour or not.
And yes, we all know about the batting deficiencies of our batsman. Even so, Javed Omar, the specialist opener with the worst technique for an opener has scored 22 runs off 60 balls today, you may even remember Monjurul Islam Rana from the West Indies tour to have the worst batting technique, yet he has scored tons of runs for Bangladesh both in Test and ODI cricket.
Habibul Bashar is somebody who has never had any proper batting technique, but he still manage to have the best batting average for Bangladesh in Tests.
All these suggest that our batsman must have something other than just technique to simply survive a full day on Day One of Lord's pitch, which they didn't show today.

It's not the technique that's wrong.. it's the mindset!
As someone from the commentry box said today (Probably Nasser Hussain).... "They dont seem to hav faith in their technique. Just flashing around and go for making 20s or 30s before the bowlers get them!"
As if they are thinking "Well.. techniques arn't gonna save us!... lets make some runs before I DIE!!"

Whether we should have gotten Test status or whether we should be playing at this level or not is a diffrent point. But as far as the standard of our cricket in concerned, we are not good enough to play Test cricket, no even close I would say.
Now, one can argue, that the only way for us to improve is by playing against the best. Others will say the opposite. As I said, thats a different point. Our cricket is downright sub-standard and I know that if I was not a Bangladeshi, I would be calling our team an insult to Test cricket!

Sham, a harsh comment. but i'm sad to say that u r right. i agree. the problem is, we can understand this my brain, but not by heart. so we'll be up again by game time hoping for some miracle but will be disappointed the same way as today.

i cannot agree more.
Our cricket was a shambles today!
The technique was there for everyone to see, and people talkin about MASH being the next Andy flintoff, dream on guys that guy plants himself to teh ground has doesnt move. He is way way far of being an all rounder, more of a bowler to me.
Shahdat was very poor as well, always bowling leg stump, non stop to 2 left handers, and well hes certainly not as fast as he says he is. I would what the broadcasters have put him as, right arm medium fast.

I'm not sure if did right thing tieing Whatmore for another 2 yrs. PErhaps there is time for a change. The coach should inject the bloody same thing into batsme's mind "Stay in the wkt", which he has been trying to do since the last 2 yrs without much success.
Some instructions need to get into our mind with appropriate method. Dav's way of getting that idea into our players' minds is not working at all. We probably need some more harsh approach, who knows! "Mairer upre kotha nai" - that might work in our type of culture and mindset. Western way of instructing seems to be useless. I just want to stop thinking abt it now, just need a break!!! Will come back with more dreams when play restarts tomorrow.
