5th Asia Junior Hockey
Despite the defeat against Malaysia (3-0), the draw with China (2-2) and win against Srilanka (3-1), it was expected that Bangladesh would fight well against India.
But see what Bangladesh did!
Bangladesh vs India
India (10) vs Bangladesh (0)

There are reasons for it too....
- We don't have a stable hockey league
- There are only a handful of people interested in the sport in BD
- The game is expensive (the turf itself costs crores - several KOTI Takas)
- The game is very fast and we are NOT
- We used to have some quality players but they have either retired or way past their prime. We do not have any new players coming in because every kid is busy either with Cricket or soccer.

I agree with most of the points mentioned.
However, I would like to mention that we have this expensive Astroturf in the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. Possibly we have it at BKSP as well and BKSP has also been making a group of Hockey players every year.
Finally, I cannot understand why should steps not be taken to develop Hockey further? Our past record in Hockey, as compared to Soccer, is not that bad. If our policy makers really find no potential for this sports, they should stop sending our teams for International competitions.

We3 used to be on the top 4 in the 80's when there were barely 4/8 teams playing. Then Malaysia jumped past us and by late 00s, Japan, China and Singapore decided to take the game seriously. Now, our senior team is lucky if they can manage a sixth spot in asia. Also, notice that sri lanka is also trying to take us over. If this keeps up, we'll be out of the top 10 in no time.
We can't be competitive in hockey with only 2 turfs to play on. it's just not possible. Hockey doesn't make much money either and name one famous household hockey player in BD. Well, we and I can prolly name a few but what about the rest of bangladesh ? There just isn't any interest in the game.
One thing that the feds can do is prolly have international hockey matches shown on TV, have regular hockey tournaments all over the country. Have a national hockey league and show delayed coverage on tv. Have schools setup in the divisions and have them compete in India/Malaysia/Pakistan. There's lot that can be tried. They can't do that for football, i wonder if they can pull it off for hockey.

We can say easily without any thinking Bangladesh has no future in _______. Now any name can we put here Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Handball, Kho kho (confused!) and what not and sentence will not be incorrect. But what we are doing? How much we have expended for 5th SAF games and what for? We should prioritize as per our prospect, strength, and availability. Sri Lanka, Nepal & even Maldives are in progressive trend, but selectively. Financially are we really in bad shape as compared to them? I think it’s a Global problem? Sponsorship is dominating the market true but available fund should be utilized plan wise not for participation only.
