As a fan of neither of the finalists, this was definitely the best FIFA World Cup final I've seen since 2006, such an amazing game!

This was a good world cup campaign for the Socceroos too. The only teams we lost to are the two finalists.

I don't know for first 80 mins it was one sided match and arg had total control. It got interesting after that.
There's been too many soft penalty calls this tournament . Out of messis 7 goals 5 were penalty. U have to call this a bit ridiculous.

Those easy goals give a team a lot of advantage.

Though messi with argentina took this long they never really did poorly in any wc imo.

2014 lost against the most efficient German team in history in over time by 1 goal in final. This same gear team gave 7 goals to brazil in Brazil.
2018 knocked out in group stage by the eventual world cup winner. Again 4 -3
2022 wins . Deserves to win but got some home favoritism by the officials.


So technically messi played champion team 3 wc in a row and barely lost. He is better goat than Maradona.

I don't know why ppl saying this is the best final ever though. This tourney every single match argentina played was great to watch. Its all in the scores and the urgency....

And argentina and brazil team are always fun to watch compared to European borefest like Croatia yuck. Watching two European country play is like watching ....oh wait I usually fall asleep.

messi actually scored 4 with pens and 3 from field(one vs mexiceo, one vs australia and one in extra time of the final). he got 5 pens but missed one vs poland

in recent memory i cant recall any final that was this entertaining. granted for 78 mins France was MIA, but from 79th min it was like a roller costar with both team delivering in both full time addedt time and extra time

2010 was decided by 1 goal
2006 went to penalties, it was a zidane vs buffon show
2002 was one sided
1998 was one sided
1994 was one of the most boring finals of all time

I think this is the why most people are saying best final ever as recent finals were not as exciting
