Default WC 2006 Golden Ball for Zidane
Paolo Rossi, Italy's 1982 FIFA World Cup hero, said the Golden Ball (Best Player Award) for WC 2006 should go to Zinedine Zidane

Here is what he said to FIFAworldcup.com

FIFAworldcup.com: As the winner of the adidas Golden Ball in 1982, who do you think is the player of the tournament so far?

Rossi: I'd love to say Fabio Cannavaro or Gianluigi Buffon for what they have done for Italy, but I think that so far it would have to be Zinedine Zidane, both for the way he has played and the extraordinary career that will end on Saturday, or more likely Sunday, on the finest stage there is. You can't say he doesn't deserve it.

I think Zidane played well in the last two games only, he needs to play well in the remaining games too...

If he wins the world again for France then Zidane will be treated as one of the greatest players of all time. He has already established himself as a great player.

well ribery has shown great performance in the last 2 matches, if ribery outplays zidane in the next 2 matches then ribery might be more likely the winner. If Portugal wins on the shoulder of Figo, then he might get it. But so far Zidane is most likely ahead of everybody.

A horrible performance by both teams, but somehow all Zidane fans will be jumping on abotu how he played amazing.

No he didnt, he was invisible and Henry took a dive.

and that Zidane was fouled on occasions without ref blowing his whistle. Zidane was unlucky too.

It seems Henry took a dive but if look at closely then you will see he had enough contact with the opposition player.

Don't know why people back home always support Argentina or Brazil. Why not any other team? And if any one loves football then they should like to watch Zidane playing this game. The way playes this game is fantastic. How many people stay so calm when controling the ball or fighting to get the ball? Not too many. So football lovers watch when you can...you wont see these players too long.
