Dominant England defeat Tigers by 106 runs
08 June 2019
Tournament favourite England bounced back from their unexpected defeat against Pakistan by defeating Tigers by 106 runs at Sophia Graden in Cardiff today. England posted a mammoth total of 386 for 6 in 50 overs after the Tigers skipper Mashrafe Mortaza invited England to bat first after winning the toss.
Jason Roy tormented Bangladesh bowlers with a blistering 153 off 121 deliveries, and he was well supported by Bairstow and Buttler who struck breezy fifties.
Bangladesh was never in the contention to chase down the target, and Shakib Al Hasan fought a lone battle with a brilliant 121 from 119 deliveries. No other batsman reached 50 for Bangladesh with Mushfiqur's 44 being the second highest score.
Bangladesh plays their next match against Sri Lanka at the County Ground in Bristol on Tuesday 11th June.
