New Zeland secure Test win despite Shakib heroics
19 February 2010
A fighting Test century by Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan wasn't enough to resist the victory charge by the Black Caps as the hosts secured the one off Test match by 121 runs in Hamilton today. Resuming on 88-5, Tigers were finally bowled out for 282 in the post-lunch session despite the maiden Test century by Shakib Akl Hasan.
Shakib shared stands of 79 with Mushfiqur Rahim (22) and 68 with Mahmudullah (42) to raise the hope of the tourists, but at the end it was not enough after a miserable performance by the top order batsmen.
Shakib was finally bowled out by Tim Southee after reaching the century mark. Southee also cleaned up the Bangladesh tail and finished with 3-41.
