Bangladesh vs Scotland, ODI 2, 17 Dec 06

Bangladesh made it 8 ODI wins in a trot when they easily dispatched the visiting Scottish team in the second and final match of the two match series.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 278 for 6 with Aftab Ahmed scoring back to back half centuries (46 ball 52) and the unbeaten seventh-wicket stand of 79 between Mashrafe Mortaza and Mohammad Ashraful handed to the Scots and insurmountable target. Mashrafe clobbered 51 not out from 28 balls, a blitz that included five sixes.

In turn, Scotland folded like a proverbial house of cards to 146 all out. A chase was out of the question, espcially when Mashrafe had the tourists reeling at nought for two in his very first over and Navdeep Poonia and Dougie Brown were back in the pavillion before they had a chance to glance at a sight screen.

Bangladesh wins the series 2-0

Bangladesh vs Scotland, ODI 1, 15 Dec 06

Delusions of a Scottish win was quickly put to rest as Bangladesh disptached yet another lowly opponent with ease. Batting first, Scotland managed to stutter to 153 all out. Mashrafe bin Mortaza took 2-49 and his haul of 47 in 2006 looks like being the most in this calendar year.

Bangladesh easily overhauled the target on the back of a frenetic Aftab Ahmed 66. Opener Shahriar Nafees scored 36 and that was enough for him to be the first bangladeshi to have scored 1000 ODI runs in a calendar year.

The second and final match of this short one-day series is in Fatullah on Sunday.
