Attitudes need changing. Many Bangladeshis need to change their attitudes.
Do the players need to change their attitudes? No. Do the cricket officials
related to the national team need to change their attitudes? No. It is we, the
fans, who need to change our attitudes.
One victory over the West Indies means nothing. The players have someone to
take care about their emotions. We don't. The players' ambition is so high that
they now seem to believe that they can beat any side in on any given day.
On the other hand, we do not believe that our team is capable of winning against
the mighty West Indies. So it becomes a bad dream to us when we cannot beat
the West Indies on their home grounds in a close encounter. Some of us cannot
sleep at night after watching a pathetic display by the Bangladesh batsman.
On the other hand, former national cricketers like Akram Khan and Al Shahriar
go to sleep without even thinking that there was any chance of winning.
It is totally our fault that we do not even know the ability of our own players.
We do not trust them.
Like the players, we also need someone to make us believe in our team. Like
the players, we also need someone who will make us be ambitious.
Finally, it is good in one way that we did not win in the first match in this
maiden away series in the West Indies. We would have been so overwhelmed by
our victory that we would have forgotten our main goal: to improve gradually
so that no one can say that 'the win was a fluke', not even us.
