Bangladesh has lost the first practice match in Australia tour. In the 3 day match in Brisbane, Bangladesh had the target of 175 in the second innings to win the match. Despite controlling the game for the first 2 days, Bangladesh failed to reach the target by 29 runs scoring 145 in 69 overs losing all wickets.
In Alan Border Stadium, after losing the first wicket of Javed Oman in the first over, Hannan Sarkar and Habibul Bashar showed good resistance, however, that didn?t last long. After breaking the 2nd wicket partnership at 42, Bangladesh was in deep trouble in only 9 runs by losing the wickets of Habibul Bashar, Mohammad Ashraful and Al Shahriar. Hannan and Alok Kapali scored 45 runs in the 5th wicket partnership. After Hannan was out LBW by Hauritz, it was only a matter of time for Bangladesh to be all out. Hannan scored 33 runs in 103 balls with 4 fours while Bashar scored 33 in 62 balls with 7 fours. Alok Kapali scored 27 in 60 balls with 2 fours. Khaled Masud, coming at no. 8, scored 24 runs in 82 balls, but that wasn?t enough to win the match. The captain Sujon came to bat at position 9 and scored only 8. His first innings score was 6. However his bowling figure is 3/63 in 19 overs in 2 innings.
Earlier, Queensland, coming to the field with previous day?s score of 153/7, lost the last 3 wickets in only 23 runs. Alok took 4 wickets while Anwar took 3 and Manju took 2. Bangladesh scored 43/2 at lunch, 111/7 at tea and lost the last 3 wickets in 34 runs after tea break and was all out for 145. Five bowlers from the home team split the 10 wickets among them. After the home team scored 201 in the first innings, Bangladesh replied with 203/9 (Declared).
Bangladesh will play the 2nd practice match on the same venue against Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy. The match will start Thursday.
