Thumbs up Shamim Chowdhury Fan Club

Please respect him a bit more. He is our elder. I think it's personally offensive to call him 'kufa.' He is reading this after all.

This is his fan thread and my first problem thrown at the fans is how to find an ancestry of Shamim Chowdhury tying him to Lord Curzon and a certain Guile of Canterbury.

As Shamim Chowdhury would say,

"Bring it home, son!"

Atleast he can express himself well in English. May be not great analyzer of the game of cricket but knows the folks and lingo involved. He remains within his limitations and, consequently, he does not embarrass himself too often. So, consider me his as his fan for lack of alternatives.

Actually wish he was a bit more biased, his neutrality makes him quite annoying to me.

Ya. I get what you mean. A lot of other umpires have a tendency to be somewhat biased towards their nation's teams but Shamim is just so neutral. In that sense I like Athar better.

I think he's an OK commentator. Not the best but he's nowhere near as annoying as say Harsha Bhogle or Mark Nicholas, who have zilch international experience. I first heard him during the Kitply Cup and felt sorry for him because a few of the other comms (no names) seemed to be talking "down" to him, so I sent him an encouraging email. Never received the reply but I suspect it's in his spam box. I also like Athar Ali Khan, he's a decent commentator

This guy doesn't seem to know much about cricket, thus he fills the air air up with a lot of nonsense garbage and things that don't make no sense...Are Shamim Chow and Saka Chow relatives?

Yes I respect the guy, he has a good vocabulary and a fake British accent also always full of praise for opposition batsmen, whenever he comes into the box i get "butterflies in my stomach." Salam Shamim Sir, we all love you and your famous butterfly quote too.

I agree completely, it's very cruel and medieval to call him kufa. just think what he or his loved ones would think if they were reading those posts. somehow he talks more sense than athar whose hyperventilating makes him probably the worst commentator ever.
I like his commentary, he knows his limits and whatever little cricketing observation he gives is not wrong.

Are you kidding? Mark Nicholas rocks. So what if he doesn't have international experience? He's still an awesome commentator and has just as much insight into the game as say Ian Chappell (and a lot more personableness). Shamim Chow should go to him for private commentating lessons.
