So if Abul doesn't make it to the playing XI then the team might be like this

1. Tamim
2. Nazim/Junaed
3. SN/Junaed
4. Naeem
5. Shakib
6. Riyad
7. Mushy
8. Nasir
9. Sunny
10. Gazi
11. SRK/Rubel

Which doesn't look like a bad team tbh.. That gives you the depth in the batting line up and a moderate to good spin attack .. Really no point in taking 2 pacers just for the sake of it specially when they are the crappiest ever !!

Can't wait to see the world's deadliest bowling duo SRK & Abul bowling in tandem against Gayle, this might force him go into exile from test cricket again!

playing a test match with only one pacer is unrealistic

We need to remember one thing. National team is not a place for babysitting.
The national team has been a babysitting centre for many years. This trend is not changing anytime soon bro..

. We have seen many "talents" have been hastily injected there over the years and after a bad series or two many were discarded. I don't want Abul to have the same fate..He is not ready, no doubt. But I want people to encourage him. It's not his fault that he is where he is now.

I personally have soft corner for guys who bowl fast. So maybe that's why I am not seeing what you are seeing. But these harsh criticism from fans need to stop. Let him gain some national team experience thanx to Akram and then condemn him if he fails.

I dont think he is playing. He'll be busy carrying drinks. So no need to worry

If Abul miss 1st test ..Then I think he will play in the 2nd test just like WCT20

Great post Roman bhai. I'm happy that you stood up for Abul. Coaches Jurgenson and Law really praised them highly so there's obviously something they're seeing which we aren't yet. He's a young guy and it's no point of really trashing him just because he got smashed in some T20's which happens to many good bowlers.

Plus it's not like we are leaving Brett Lee's and Curtly Ambrose's at home. We just have to face the facts here, our pace situation is in a sorry situation which is why we're seeing a 17 year old Taskin already being very close to being in the national team. We desperately need to open a pace academy so we can develop better pacers and we won't have to throw such young pacers in to the fire.

the thing is there are a number of pacers who can bowl 140kph+ now, and there are even more that bowl 130kph+, i think pace isn't as important as control, line and length, variations and the ability to think and bowl to a plan to try and get the batsmen out once a bowler can bowl 130+. obviously pace can be a weapon but if that bowler has no control, no variations, no line and length and can't think a batsman out and bowl to a plan the what is the point? it's about taking wickets, your fastest bowler isn't always your best wicket-taker.....

the positive is that he hasn't just been discarded like many others but if he's there purely for pace then there are others who can bowl as fast. rubel for one, shahadat can bowl 140+, shafiul on occassion can get his pace up there, sajidul can get up there, kamrul rabbi is meant to be able to, taskin.

the main issue with his current selection is that he's one 3 very similar pacers in the same squad and they are the only pacers in that squad. he is being singled out because rubel has shown potential and has ODI success and in periods shahadat has had success and abul is the new guy who is yet to have any real success.

Exactly ...... so all these criticism and crying over Nazmul is just silly and waste of time.

The way, we cover up Anamul's 20 failures, and want him back in the team for no good reason, IMO. Why can't we have the same sympathy for this lad?? Yes, I'm yet to forget his nonsense in the T20 WC, but that doesn't mean that he isn't capable of doing better in the test matches.... Lets not have double standards for different players.

It's easy to forget a player who is unable to perform in the international arena. How many young pacers did we try so far? Where are they now? What happened to them? I don't want the name of Abul to be added to that list.

If Abul becomes the reason for losing matches, I am sure you guys will change your stand. There's no point in throwing someone out there in the middle who is not ready at all.

Any way, I am stopping talking about Abul. Let's see what he does. Wishing him all the best.

chorom hoise. Moc bhai, put this poem in OP instead of my cheap one

On topic, after all this discussion I am really curious to see Abul bowl in one of the test now. He has nothing to lose. If he fails, we won't be surprised because we convinced ourselves that he sucks. But if he performs, it will turn many heads and he will be an instant hero.

I know Abul has potential. I remember in the BPL when he dismantled Duronto's batting lineup. He got Mushy out as well. But that day he was bowling good line and length with pace. But for some reason he cant bowl proper line and length deliveries. Its pretty dissapointing to see that. I think he shouldnt be in the national team and at the same time rectifying this problem. He needs to work on it in the domestics and then come into the national team after fixing those problems.

Really looking forward to The Rajib and The Abul bowling in tandem. As a matter of fact, I think our entire bowling attack during the test series would be fabulous to watch.

Should we put a magnet in the ball and another in the good length area of the pitch, to prevent Abul from bowling 5 short balls per over? Hopefully Jurgensen will figure out something. BTW Jurgensen himself has overstayed his welcome.

Good luck to the youngman!
He is definitely one of the best we got now for Test. Pace and aggression -the key ingredients -he has got. The rest will come with time. Welldone to the selectors for identifying this.

Alles gute, Abul!

While Abul is not a good option for ODI/T20s, I think he can be handy in Tests particular; let's see what happens
