Bangladesh-India vis-à-vis preview (Asia Cup 2012)

Great Article. This vis-a-vis type writing is much easier to read and analyze. Thanks Zee for going through all the troubles.

Zee, are you a Mullah fan? Now, we can't drop Mollah because of his stats against India.

He must deliver this time as well to keep his position in the team.

Nah, Mullah ki diyei hobei nah. Or Batting Record dekho: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...g;view=innings

Single digit scores followed by the occasional 20-30 and the very rare 50 (where he remains not out of course)

Great Article Gopal da...you are always good...Mamadullah picture and praise!!!..hope he won't let you down...
So important for Shakib, Tamim, Nasir, Mashrafee to contribute for something to fight with...rest I am not sure how much they will do...but we can expect them they play bravely making sure there is nothing to lose and play all out...actually that message is given to them all the time...but for some reason it does not work!!! What will work...can we have a write up for it too

Thanks SS.

Here is Riyad's record against India. Yes, he bats lower down the order and that's why he stayed out not out three times which inflated his average. But he also scored 2 sixties GIVEN he batted lower down the order. This is ODI; doesn't take his Test heroics in consideration.

64* 0 10 0 0
v India Dhaka 11 Jan 2010 ODI # 2942
23 - - 0 0

v India Dhaka 19 Feb 2011 ODI # 3100

Do not know if it is stats manipulation or he really reads Indian bowler well. But now we will have new Indian bowlers.

Nice read, let make this vis-e-vis preview for every BD match a BC version match preview. It is quite unique and informative.

I think the biggest problem with us against any opponent is our poor shot selection. Once our batsmen play silly shots to get out, it instantly puts pressure on the other batsmen coming in and hence you see SR's not being high enough. It's gonna be absolutely crucial that our batsmen continue to rotate the strike and dispatch the bad balls away for boundaries to keep the Indians under pressure. Also our batsmen need to convert. Get big scores. Especially for guys like Tamim, Shakib, Mushy, and Riyad who have had plenty of time in international cricket. The 20's and 30's need to be converted in to 50's and 50's need to turn in to centuries. For example, last match Nazim and Jahurul should've hit 50's and Tamim could have converted his 50 in to a 100. If our batsmen convert, there is no reason why we can't run India close.

From the bowling side of things, It'll be very important to have Nazmul play. If Mash and Nazmul can choke up the runs early, they can create some pressure from both ends and cause an early wicket or 2 to fall which is key in reducing India. I would also advise Shahadat to bowl the short balls to India. The way he was having success with it against the Pakistanis, he'll be able to do as good or even better against India. Also not to mention, he does well against India. Also Shakib, Razzak, and Riyad need to keep the Indian batsmen guessing and not allow them to be comfortable. If we can do these things then we should have a good match.

Is anyone aware of a silver bullet shortcut link from Cricinfo's statsguru that gives an overall summary when 2 team names are entered? (Or does one have to do it manually one by one?)

Great stuff Zee.
A refreshing match preview, a BC first.
Would really love to improve on the 100 and average column.

Yet we need some French to arrange nicely on the plate, with some delicious sauce.

Good preview.

At the end of the day, if all the basics are check-marked perhaps the whole 170 odd million of die hard supporters would live to see..
This is the main problem of Bangladesh. If they can keep the basics right, i am sure, we will have many more successes in the future.

Scroll down to BC footer. Find the useful links menu. Then go to the cricket stats section - I believe howstats gives head to head between two teams.
