Bowling first and trying hard to restrict them less than 270 would be better compared to batting first and trying to score 280 and ending up getting bowled out for 180!

I say, let these Indian oldies field first. Let them bat under light with tiredness.

If they can play better than their career averages we can post exceptional scores. But our boys dont end up strategizing and visualizing 9/10 times
Your calculation is a bit flawed.U ll have to count number of balls they face.

I feel sorry for India already. Riyad will score the quickest 100 by a Bangladeshi to Chase 369 insallah.

The plan against pakistan was to attack their batting line up and hence we played one bowler extra and had a long tail. The plan almost paid off untill Mash decided to give away 3 full toss in one over which made all the difference.

Against indians, what do you attack ??
They have a superior batting line up but weaker bowling compared to pakistanis.
Play an extra bowler and risk the non-wagging tail ??
Play an extra batsman to take advantage of their relative bowling weakness ??

Chase or defend ??

Right now, I say, play an extra batsman.
One Shafiul will have a less chance to make a difference in the battle between our bowlers and their batsman. But one Anamul could make a bigger difference between their bowlers and our batsman.
On a relative net difference, I think the batman will have a greater positive effect .

Our top order is wobbly and our tails is shaky. I think we should go with an extra batsman.

Mash,Shahadat, Shakib, Razzak/Sunny the 4 main bowlers.
Riyad/Nasir/Jahurul can fill the 5th one.

While I love to add one more batsman in the team, but I fear both Mash & Shahadat wont be able to bowl full quota. Moreover if one of Razzak/Sunny [whoever in the team] messed up bowling his 10 overs ... the game will be over in half of the way, its a tough call either way.

^^ What would you rather have ?
One extra bowler and expose the tail too early ??

It is a very tough call indeed.

Playing an additional spinner won't do any good against india. I would play mash, nazmul, shahadat and shakib as main bowlers, pick an additional batsman and mentally prepare the team for a chase of 300

I think its an easy decision . The lesser the bowlers against India , the better . No matter whom we have in our bowling arsenal or how many bowlers we have . No difference , India will score 250+.

They are great players of spin and this is not a fast bowlers pitch . So both ways we get hammered . This match is more of India Batting Vs Bangladesh Batting .

Since we cant match their superior batting skills , we have to

- field the best . Dive , jump and swim . Anything , but dont leak runs in the field .
- Bowl to a plan . Maintain line and length . No extras please.
- Gambhir Doesnt fancy off spin bowling . Get Nasir/Mullah right after the powerplays if Gambhir still there.
- Put Pressure on Tendu . I dont think he has been in a more pressurised situation in his career than this . Dravids retirement , His poor form , 99th century , bll bla . Bottom Line . Put slips , get fielders in catching positions and attack the stumps .
- Get a decent bowler to bowl at the death . Not Mashrafee 'panic' Mortaza.

Finally ,

- Fill the team with as many Batsman possible . We need to bat deep , as far as number 8.

I think BC needs to have a pre match thread , match thread and post match thread for a good analysis . What do you say mods/staff ?

The way I see ... We have Tamim, Nazim, Jaharul, Mushi, Shakib, Nasir, Riyad who can bat AND SHOULD do the job posting/chasing a good total.

However, given our past experience we hardly ever managed to post/chage a total 270-280! One extra batsman MAY help us to get that mark, but beyond 300 is big big question! Its a 'never been there zone' for BD, especially against top team. So our TOP PRIORITY should be to keep the runs below 300 by any means, need options in hand to try that, and ONLY THEN we can think of a game WE ARE IN and try BE COMPETITIVE till the end.

We may end up scoring 180 odd runs, but should try most to restrict first, hence a bowler, Nazmul/Shafiul should be in the team like last game.

When India came to tour Australia everyone thought that India will smash Australia due to their immense batting lineup (Sehwag, Gambhir, Tendulkar, Kohli, Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni) but Australia uncovered that their lineup isnt strong.

A key observation i made during the series is that Australia used a lot of bouncers which got the Indians on their toes. It really messed them up because they are not used bouncers. They either got out playing a bouncer or get out to a bowl after a bouncer was bowled.

That exactly what Shahadat emulated against Pakistan. If we use this strike weapon correctly then we could win this match.

Malinga is the expert of the yorkers lets make Shahadat the expert of the bouncers? He needs to learn to ball deadly bouncers that come straight at the helmet and needs to learn to bowl good bouncers when the batsmen least expects it.

To me stratigies against India and Srilanka is simple.Make pace friendly wicket, take 3 pacers and dont allow their batsman to score freely.
Rather its tough to make strategy against Pakistan.

Sorry to differ.Playing with 8 batsman theory was invented by Siddins. It gave us nothing.I am never interested to play with 8 batsman.Specially as the part timers are too weak.8 batsman theory will never make the top order responsible.
To me in last match we had a very good startegy and almost paid off.
I want to test indian batsman against pace.I ll play with 3 pacers.Nazmul in Shafiul out in a grassy wicket.

Playing with 8 batsmen theory didn't quite work out in the past mainly because we had Riad & Naeem batting at No.7 & 8 respectively. They were the best blockers in the team but Siddons believed they were Lance Klusener!

Now we have Nasir who's a genuine match winner and if we can bring in Anamul as well, that might not be a bad idea!

In that case i ll ask who will be your 5th bowler.Riyad and Nasir?Nasir has an average of 52 and Riyad is 46 indicates they are nothing more than part timer.Taking them as 5th bowler will leak a lot of runs.

I wanna drop riad. This dude has only 6 half centuries in his 5 year long ODI career. Anyone disagrees?

we should prepare a spinners paradise and go out with an all out spin attack for this match! I don't think pace will do us any good...
