So Al Amin and Taskin are tall with Taskin having a bit of pace. As long as Al Amin is 130+ he should be good. But isn't Abu Jayed too short?

Barnes, a former Gloucestershire fast bowler, was impressed by Al-Amin. "He has stepped up to the plate. He has some pace but most importantly, he bowled straight and the wicket here is where you bowl straight," he said.
|
From the dailystar
This is what Barnes said.

I would say 5''10, maybe touching 5''11... Not of great stature, but it's good enough.

from that pic he looks at least 6 foot. hard to tell, but he looks mashrafee height. look at the stumps for comparison. he's taller than shafiul and rubel from the looks of that pic. i'm a decent judge of height from pics if I have some scale.
the height he has, i'm not worried. Barnes says he has some pace, that means he must be at least 135 k but not super quick. because anything lower than that is not considered pace.
any pics of taskin, Nadim?

He's got a decent build. I would say he's about 5'10" or 5' 11" He seems to be pretty fast but not express. I don't mind though, as long as he's got good control, that's all I care about.

I really wish Pint had been there to help him - you can easily correct the glitch in bowling action when he's young - and some pace is going to do him a world of good.

but we can find someone like him or better right? I don't understand why some of us are so obsessed with him. I am sure there are numerous good fast bowlers in the world whom he didn't coach.

We seriously need to find better pacers. We can't win matches without class bowlers, doesn't matter how strong the batting unit is. Present Indian team is the best example of this. The only reason they rose to No.1 in tests was their aging trio along with Sehwag/Gambhir peaked at the right moment and was able to bat opposition out of the match. They scored quickly and bought enough time for their bowlers. Now when the batting is not clicking, they are losing by innings margin.
So lets hope we get Shaker, Taskin, Jayed to be of world class standard.

He looks 6+ to me. However I must admit, pictures can be deceiving.

As long as he can maintain a good line and length with 135+ I am fine with it. His height is not a factor
He looks tall though

I hope you did not put such stuff in your Ph.D. dissertation. I intentionally left one "loose" item in my draft and was eaten alive for it by you-know-who.

Pint? Ian Pont will not be happy!
Yes, having Pont to work on these youngsters could have been invaluable. One can always wish.

Then find someone better.
He has been the only truly good pace-blowing coach we ever had. Plus, he is the right type for our bowlers, who come to the national team lacking basics. Many coaches will have no patience for it!

Actually height is more of a factor than pace. He's almost guaranteed to NOT be brutishly quick because if he was, we'd had have heard about him like we did with Rajib and Rubel, neither of whom was ever express. At int'l level, you need more than just brute pace. Brute pace will seldom get wickets on its own, and even then your line has to be spot on whether your bowling bouncers or yorkers.
A 130 k bowler with the right accuracy is plenty useful, especially if the bowler has some height because he can surprise the batsman with bounce off a good length.

I think Mashrafee should concentrate on coaching than playing. I know for a fact that he is probably one of the most knowledgeable pace bowler in the country. He is aware of all the arts of fast bowling. I am sure if you ask Mr Pont, he would agree.

From a reliable source, Taskin is taller than Shahadat.

None of our pacers will be world class unless they have the physique to support the strain and pitches that allows them to try different skills. And yes, longer version of cricket helps too!!
