Career Story

Nafees, a left-handed opening batsman, first played in the national team in Bangladesh's maiden English Tour (2005). Nafees scored his maiden first-class century, as well as his first in Tests, at Fatullah in April 2006 against Australia. He scored his maiden one-day hundred against Zimbabwe in August 2006. Nafees was appointed vice-captain for the Champions Trophy in India in October 2006 with the view of grooming a successor for Habibul Bashar. The tournament was a successful one for him as he scored his second ODI century, again Zimbabwe were his opponents. He scored his third century against Zimbabwe again in November. Finished 2006 with over 1000 ODI runs, becoming the first Bangladeshi pass that milestone in a calendar year. However in June 2008 Nafees joined the unauthorised Indian Cricket League and was given a ten-year ban by the Bangladesh Cricket Board however he severed his ties with the league in September 2009 and was therefore available for national selection he made his return in an ODI series against New Zealand in October 2010 in which he scored 35 as Bangladesh won that match and 73 in the next match as Bangladesh once again took a seven-wicket victory.

Good opportunity for abirz to hijack this thread. Maybe Protic will resurface also.

This is the guy who SHOULD be captain.

We need to look forward not backwards. Let SAH be our best player and let SN be our best, most respected leader within the team.

positive cricketer, can rotate the strike. one of the new generation cricketers who believes that anything is possible. and proved himself at the highest level against the best team. scored a brilliant century against the no. 1 australian team. he was on the track to become captain of bangladesh. he was the vice captain.

i am glad that he is back in the team after the ICL debacle. and maybe he can rise up the ranks to be a contender for the captaincy (in the future). hope he performs and stays in the team.

For some reason, he is mostlikely the only BD national player that I do not like.
It could be the ICL thing... it could be something else.

I think that he is a good technical batsmen, but like the players of old (pre 2007 era) he goes gets out in soft dismissals.

not really a fan of SN but always said that he does manage to get odd fifties in every series which is better than many of our inconsistent players.
my word it was a great knock.

In the context of the recent matches probably one of the most accomplished innings because it showed GUTS and DETERMINATION. He knew his technique was not sound. The ball was doing a fair bit but he was patient without going into a shell, played more straight than typical and ran brilliantly. The lower order should take note. We HAVE to get 300 tomorrow.
