WI will likely take a game vs. ENG, SA or IND. So for us we need to look beyond just beating WI, IRE and NED for a QF spot.

Westindies have players like gayle, sarwan, chanderpaul, bravo, pollard nd sammy in their batting line up...they have fast bowlers like roach and edwards...therefore i think its gonna be very tough for us to beat them.

Call me sissy if you wish but I am not comfortable about Ireland either. Our track record against them is not great. I know they should not stand a chance specially in out soil, but pocha shamuk a pa kata is not out of the blue for us. Thus the match against Ireland is also crucial for me.

IR is training only focusing on us. their each player is memorizing what our players does and when and what. that's why I am also not comfortable with them. we r not focusing on only one team but they are... England is paying them and told them to only beat us in wc and they will give them 5 more players...

let me just say that this thread is about West Indies... so discussing our chances against them here does not imply that we are not targeting other teams.. our team management surely has detailed gameplans on how to beat each of the 6 teams in our group but as fans if you look at the current rankings and results then atleast stats-wise this game will be less tougher than beating Eng,SA and IND....

The way West Indies batted in the 1st ODI gave us both positives and negatives...

the negative thing for us is how comfortably Sarwan and Barath handled Murali, Mendis and Dilshan..even after 2 wickets fell early... They were taking singles and hitting the big sixes here and there..and comfortably going at 4.5 runs per over.... This is one area that our part-timers like Mahmudullah and Naeem needs to watch out... we cannot allow them to break the stranglehold created by Razzak and Shakib.

The positive thing is that even after such a strong platform laid out by Sarwan and Barath.. Sri Lanka still managed to restrict them to a below par total underlining the inconsistency of WI... Sides like SA, India or England would run away with the game if given half an opportunity like this... but with West Indies...if we keep fighting we will be able to claw back into a winning position because they hardly ever put up a flawless performance in all three departments of the game.

Lets win over the full strength WI and move above them in the ranking. That's justified.

And a win in the opening match would be quiet necessary to prove that we are playing for the cup.

Lets target one game at a time. Our first assignment is India. Lets demolish India. Then Ireland, WI and so on so forth.

I think BD has better chance to beat ffice:smarttags" />England then any other team because they have been touring Australia more than 3 months. They will not get enough time to cool down and I am pretty sure our condition will make them more exhausted. fficeffice" />

They will play against us on March which going to be quite humid. So all Shakib needs to do is win the toss and bat first and our chance will be 60%.

Batsman should be wary of his bowling tactic.

Any way, first 4 games are very important for Bangladesh if we wish to go beyond second round. Points from 1st round against any/all top 4 will be carried forward to the second round. So the game against SA and ENG will not be any easier.
When I was working for the ICC High Performance Department in the Caribbean, looking after Canada and Ireland, he took a couple of wickets of both teams with exactly that tactic, he slows down, drops his arms and then continues on and bowls. Its clever, as the batter automatically relaxes his guard because he thinks the bowlers his stopping. I am not sure it is within the spirit of the game though. Thoughts anybody ?

Definitely a dirty tactic, however within the rules, and still the batsmen's fault for not concentrating.

If BD can beat WI, after beating Ireland and the Neds, they will be through to the QF.everyone is saying 4 games, but if ireland and Neds lose all their matches and WI lose a few matches, then BD has a chance.

dont understand what u mean? WI would have to lose all their matches against Eng, SA, Ind and Bangladesh.... otherwise it will come down to run rate

I followed through the cricinfo scorecard of the kenya/WI and I have to say that WI was not very good. First they lost 3 wickets for only about 30 runs and had to have sarwan bail them out. Then the bowling was economical but for a while I saw kenya did not lose many wickets. Of course they didn't have gayle but with the way WI is playing, they'll struggle if their bowling and batting is this avg.

Well we have to win every game. The goal should be wining the cup not just the quarter final. and as for Windies, they can beat any team if their top guns get going

I felt that WI played well yesterday, Sarwan seems to be in form.

Why dont you warn the batsmen to watch out for him? if this is his tactic, I am sure the teams knows this after watching video footage.

Probably coach was talking about this.

@5:16 he bowls to Llndle Simmons with his normal action and he goes for six. The very next ball in that clip which is @ 5:22, he bowls with a different action and goes for a boundary.
