I think you better switch to some other sport. With that kind of expectation i am afraid there is only going to be more and more heartaches for you.
I am quite happy with the close games and occasional victories because i have seen much much worse during the early days of Al shahriar rokon and javed omar. It is not as if we set the world alight with any other sport so I tend to appreciate whatever joy cricket brings to me. Of course the last defeat was one of the hardest I had to endure but its okay... we have busy season ahead and if we play well and put up a good show in the Asia Cup, all will be forgotten.

This country thrives in mediocrity, football team is happy with just competing in South Asia, economist/ politicians are pleased with 6% GDP growth and we (Bangla cricket fans) are content with occasional wins and close games.

Off topic: I agree with the overall mediocrity part. I'm not a fan of the Economist, but they are right that emerging economies have much to learn from the parable of Argentina. Especially the part about the dangers of being ruled by economically illiterate populists and governed by weak institutions; even when those shortcomings are papered over by economic growth.

How do you know he's not doing his part ? Why is this theory that someone has to live in a country to make a difference ?

People who are in abroad actually contribute more in country's progress than thousands of people who lavishly lead their life on baap er teka.

Bangladesh has a record amount of foreign currency reserve only because of NRB's. Rather giving some credit to them, people always criticize saying they do nothing for the country. Very common.

They just need to take it match by match. Mushfiqur should be asked to consult Mash and Shakib for bowling and fielding changes. Mushfiqur's lack as a tactician was one reason we lost.

Agreed on each and every words you've said. Few days ago I was viciously attacked by some folks on this topic. Their logic was those who live abroad are not patriotic enough and we do next to zero for bd. My counter logic was similar to yours.

There is no excitement as much beloved by all fans of Bangladesh Cricket. I'm a south american by birth. Matches start here at 3 in the morning . i watched all the matches in this series so far, but none have been as heart broken as the previous match. I don't know how our team can bounce back from this predicament. Making a guy like Thisara bully us, i understand that the only guy who is allowed to bully in the sri lankan team is Kumar Sangakarrra. Why can't we bully them? Why are we allowing them to call the shots? Are we that afraid that we can't even win games when in a winning position?

I think that we are Psychologically broken just like the English team were from Johnson and company not so long ago. And who is our Bane? Sangakarra? Dishan? Mathews? I definitely think that it's not Chandimal, Kusal,Thisara, Vithanage, .

I really think that Bangladesh need to bring their A-Game to the fore. Looking at the die hard fans in the ground cheering every good thing that Bangladesh team does, those guys painting their bodies to show their love and admiration for our team/players. And what they gave us in return ? Disappointment.

The handful of Sri Lankans in the ground are proving to be our bane as well. There is no feeling as good as winning in enemy territory. Sri Lankans are feasting on us like they have always done since our Admittance to top Test status.

I know that this is a match thread so i'm going to fall in line and do the right thing. Hope to see a more spirited performance by this Bangladesh Team. GO TIGERSS!!!

Dude, I moved back to Dhaka few years back and trying to make a change in my own little way, thus the frustration. If I was staying abroad, do you think I would have time for such rant! After all, "time is money" everywhere else other than Bangladesh..

Also, this mental weakness and mediocrity is not confined to the border of Bangladesh, desis abroad are not that different either. A quick look at the average income of Bangladeshi diaspora in US, UK or Australia in comparison to other immigrant groups will show the difference. I am yet to find a developed expat Bangladeshi neighborhood in any country, it's mostly a smaller/bigger version of Jackson Heights regardless of where you go.
