Enamul drew with his opponent Pavel Eljanov from Ukraine with rating points 2691. This means that Enamul has a hope to go through this round if he can defeat his same opponent in tomorrow's match. At least he needs another drawn match to keep the hope alive. In that case he will need to win the tie breaking match in the next day.
Zia is defeated by his Russian opponents. So, in tomorrow's match Zia must win to keep hope to go through this round. Otherwise, he has to be back to the pavillion.

Rajib won the second match and through to the 2nd round

Rajib advances to second round of FIDE World Cup
DHAKA, Nov 25 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh's International Master Enamul Hossain Rajib moved to the second round of the FIDE World Cup Sunday after beating Ukrainian Grand Master Pavel Eljanov in Russia.
Rajib with white pieces took 61 moves to defeat Eljanov, the 26th ranking player in the world.
IM Rajib, who qualified for the World Cup finishing tenth in the 6th Asian Individual Chess Championship, Saturday drew with superior contender Eljanov despite having stayed in the winning position.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Grand Master Ziaur Rahman ended this year's World Cup Chess bid after losing again to Russian Dmitry Jakovenko, the 19th-ranking player in the world.
The second round of the World Cup will start November 27 in Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia.

2 players from Bangladesh & 4 players from India participated in the 1st round of the WC. One player from both the countries went through to 2nd round.
Rajib got the lowest ranking points among the players who went through to 2nd round

Excellent news. May he advance more.
Will this tournament increase his ranking? When will he become a grand master? How many norms left?

#1: I'm sure this tournament will increase his rating points. As far as I know, to become a GM a player needs to obtain 3 GM norms and after obtaining these norms his rating point has to be at least 2500.
#2: If any players rating point reaches 2600 without achieving any norms he is qualified for a GM title. I might be wrong with this #2 requirements but I'm not sure. You can check it in details in this link.

As far as I know, Rajib has all the norms and fulfilled all the requirement for becoming a Grand Master. Due to some paper work and miscommunication, FIDE did not declare him as GM in their last meeting.
Anyway, Rajib's victory is a huge upset in the chess world. Also, I am pretty no Bangladeshi has ever beaten such a highly ranked player.
check this link, Rajib is geting some attention for his giant slaying act

You can follow historic game (one move at a time) from here... You can pretty much click on any move to get the board position.

Unfortunately, Rajib lost the game. He resigned after the 28th move.
Mohiul, thanks for the link. BTW, do you know how many norms Rajib need? Sorry for mixing up Rajib and Rakib.

I didn't hear of anything about Rajib's GM norms but I think he didn't any have norms. If this is the case, he needs 3 norms. May be I'm wrong but I'm not sure.

Rajib has two GM norms. He narrowly missed the third norm in the sixth Asian championship where he became 10th and gained the privilege to play in the world cup.

Oh well he made us proud. This is only the beginning. He has so many year left to mature and do something big for us. I hope he gets adequate support from the chess federation... getting professional coach for the participants was definitely a good move.
