Default Our Chance to triumph a World Cup, finally?

The core team hasn't changed much from 2011 World Cup. Infact, it has only been strengthened, with addition of few more match winners who are world class in our home conditions. I personally think we can, and will In sha Allah!
Give your reasons why we can do it this time in 2014

We suck at T20 worse than a fresh-born calf at its momma's teat. We suck so bad that for the first time a host nation has to pass a qualifying round. ভাই তুমি তো খালি, half-glass-full না, তুমি পুরা half-glass-full with chocolate milk and marshmallows (halal/kosher kind).

Lets try to qualify for the main round first, because some members here are "afraid" of us losing to associates.

We will do excellent to qualify for the Semis

In 2007 world cup, we're in a group with India and SL. In 2012 Asia cup we're in a group with India, Pak, SL. There were no Irelands or Afghanistans in our group. Guess what? we're the ones who made it through to the next round both times at the expense of more established teams...I liked the way we fought in the last few T20's...if we have a decent SL series our confidence will be sky high...we'll have a fighting chance, and there's a first time for everything

Honestly, we might be at a really bad situation here. In the last world cup, we didn't even win any matches in the group stages, and we might have had a better team with Ashraful opening in T20s. In this case, we continue choosing players who are not suitable for this format like Mominul, Mahmudullah to some extent, Razzak in the bowling department. We lack pace bowling allrounders. And quite frankly, barring Shakib no one has stepped up to the plate, even Tamim's strike rate is less than 110 last time I checked. As I said before, our bowling leaves a lot to be desired.

Solution? Along with Mashrafe, we need a strong fast bowling option, a bowler who is in form and confidence. We need a strong opening partner for Tamim. We need a quick 12 ball 20 type of player in the middle order, who can it be? Junaid can be an option. Just don't pick the same team as ODIs or Tests, this will be a very different ball game. And looking at Ireland and Afghanistan who have nothing to lose and will play fearlessly, we need to do the same or risk not even progressing to the final rounds infront of our own spectators which in my opinion will be a sheer disaster. On top of that, how are we exactly preparing for this tournament? We are playing Sri Lanka at home, and DPL all of which are either tests or odi formats. What is going on?

Calm down guys. Unlike other times, we are playing at homes and our oppositions are minnows who have more or less zero experience of playing international cricket in Bangladesh

agree there should be more T20 but we should not cut the SL tests for that, we play a handful anyway

Remember the 2011 WC?, we cut NZ tests for more ODIs and nothing happened in the WC

Difference is that we now have a lot of match winners, many of who are mentally strong.

In that WC, both Shakib and Tamim were in poor form and hence we were not up to the mark. Why? Because the other players of the side were pretty ordinary. This time we have koushik, nasir, shamsur, who are looking good at the moment.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Lets just hope we get to the main round first

The main problem is the bowling, we concede 190+ regularly, we dont have fast bolwers who can york and use varieties regulary. Mashrafe isnt good enough for T20s and our spinners are no Narine. So even if our batting holds up the damage done coz of the bowling becomes too much to overcome.

We live in a world of perceived reality, and the sad part is we are giving in to the reality perceived by 'others'. Afghanistan thinks we'll be a cakewalk....the only way is just not to win, but to win the entire championship, but for us, afghanistan has started to scare us like australia...wow!

My only question is where does Afghanistan and Ireland get the balls to think they can beat us? Yes, we're poor in t20s but we aren't that poor that they'll bulldoze us, especially in our home ground!

Once Ireland and Afghanistan, see the support we get at home, they'll crap their pants right then! They'll loose the game right after witnessing how much people will be cheering BANGLADESH BANGLADESH!

Ireland and Afg beat the likes of PNG,Nepal,Bermuda,Hongkong,UAE like catwalk, and we get beaten by the likes of Aus,Ind,Pak like pie..so they think they can beat us. this happens..Remember our fans?, after Aus gets 4-0 throbbing from Ind and vice versa we start to think we can beat them too.

But reality gets handed to us when we cant win vs Aus/Ind(Regularly) as reality got handed to Ire when we beat them 3-0 in Ireland
