7 ODIs and no Tests?

Yup, I think its official. BCB wants to become the 12th ranked Test nation sooner than immediately. Well done to Ireland and Afghanistan for surpassing us in the Test rankings in advance.

BCB is allergic to longer version cricket. Watch the BPL get cancelled because there isn't enough time for an extended BPL season.

All U19 teams around the world are playing ODI cricket at present in preparation for the World Cup in Feb next year, hence no longer version cricket.

Our U17 team earlier this year played 2 by 3 day games v CAB and we are close to finalising another youth series which will contain a couple of 4 day and 3 day matches. Bear in mind that while it is well and good for batsmen to learn to bat in long form cricket, someone has to bowl all those overs. If you want to develop fast bowlers , then its hard to do, when 90% of the overs will be spin due to wearing wicket and quicks inability at that age to bowl too many overs.

Please also note on the schedule, which says we arrive on Oct 2, we dont actually land in guyana till around 2am on the morning of the 3rd, so there will be no practice on the 3rd, in case anyone is in Guyana.

Will try to keep you all updated with progress as the tour takes place.

^thanks coach and best of luck for the series. I'm excited that the U19ers are getting exposure outside of BD. Its not about just playing, but getting exposed to living outside the country for a certain period of time and getting a feel about how the life of an international cricketer is. It should make our players physically and mentally stronger.

Would be tough to play the first ODI as players might be tired after the long journey.

All the best coach. And thanks in advance for your future updates!

Lamest excuse by a coach i ever heard. look at srilankans, indians. they play longer version cricket from school level and our U-19 pacers are too weak to play 3 day mathces!!! bs with tripple l

Very true and i suppose the proof is in the pudding. Loads of champion fast bowlers come from India and Sri Lanka. If we want to improve faster than the other teams we have to be smarter in how we identify and develop our players. If we improve at the same rate as other teams even we will never progress up the rankings, we have to improve faster, and while long form matches are part of that, they are not the solution to all problems.

lankans improved faster than anyone. the main reason behind that is playing longer version cricket from school level. fast bowling is not our only problem!! our batsmen dont have the mental strength or technique to play long innings. the main reason we are doing so bad in longer format. our national players all are taylor made for ODI cricket. because that is the version they played all the time since age level. there is only one way to improve in longer version is that playing more longer version be it national team or A team or age level . one doesnt need to be an expert to understand that. srilanka and india never had great pacers. i agree partially. but if we could achieve what sri Lanka achieved in their first 13 years no one would be questioning our test status. trying to improve faster is cool. but one should cover the basics first. just my two cents.

Can't agree more coach. Very nicely pointed.

I'm looking forward to this series and it might be shown live on our official website so i'll keep everyone posted when that happens.

This is our squad for the series!!..

1. Fabian Allen (Jamaica)
2. Jofra Archer (Barbados)
3. Tagenarine Chanderpaul (Guyana)
4. Bryan Charles (Trinidad & Tobago)
5. Tristan Coleman (Jamaica)
6. Taryck Gabriel (Windward Islands, St Lucia)
7. Shimron Hetmyre (Guyana)
8. Jerome Jones (Barbados)
9. Ray Jordan (Windward Islands, St Vincent)
10. Alzarri Joseph (Leeward Islands, Antigua)
11. Brandon King (Jamaica)
12. Ramaal Lewis (Jamaica)
13. Leroy Lug (Jamaica)
14. Preston McSween (Windward Islands, Grenada)
15. Marquino Mindley (Jamaica)
16. Gudakesh Moti-Kanhai (Guyana)
17. Jeremy Solozano (Trinidad & Tobago)

The two openers (Solanzo and Chanderpaul) are probably the best batters!!..Tagnarine Chanderpaul is obviously well known as he's Shiv's son and both of them have played first class cricket in the past year. Tage also went to england with his father and scored ton in league cricket.

Moti-Kanhai is a left-arm spinner who is said to be a magical performer with a lot of tricks!!!..Mcsween is a left-arm swing bowler who has modelled his game on James Anderson and the other pacer who has a lot of people excited is 15 year old Azzari Joseph!!..on our caribbean cricket show the u19 coach said he could be a big star in the future.

Really a lot of them have good potential so it's gonna be a good series!!..we know Bangledash always have a tidy unit at u19 level!!..our youth system has been ok of late though and our last batch were very unlucky at the last world cup!!..one poor spell in the quarter finals by our bowlers vs NZ and that was it!!..the tailender scored 14 off the last over. We DID beat India though who went on to win the thing to my surprise.
