The Badam Thread
So, I'm munching on salted groundnuts right now and thought these guys, the badam's, deserve a thread.
We chew them for hours end, while chatting/watching a movie/on a drive etc.. without realizing the packet is almost getting over. And then, we regret for not getting more.. The clever ones, stock them inside.
They provide the best company, and we don't even realize it
And not to forget, badam milk, badam on sweets & dates, badam with rice,.. etc. they all taste awesome..! So, here it is to the badaam's, we salute you.
So what's your favorite type of badam? If you have any interesting stories associated with badam's, do share.

i ate 99% of all badam i have eaten between the age of 10 and 15, i ate so much back then, that since then i have never eaten them by themselves: the only badams i get are through toppings on sweet dishes and chanachur.
My favorite are Almonds, followed by pistachios, peanuts and cashews. Walnuts the least favorite....
Shelled pistachios are the coolest to eat, half the fun is deshelling them while ensuring the skin doesnt come off.
Cashews feel bland for some reason.
So why are peanuts called "China badam", what would have been the standard badam we had in mind when we designated peanuts as something foreign ?

I love canned nuts from Tong Garden, now that the Berkeley Farmers' Market is but a memory. Favs:
1. Wasabi and Nori glazed Macadamias.
2. Honey and spice glazed Pecans.
3. Lime, chili and black pepper glazed Cashews.
4. Garlic glazed Pistachios.
5. Boiled Peanuts marinated in soy sauce.
6. Roasted Walnuts, unsalted.
7. Roasted Brazil Nuts, salted.
8. Smoked Almonds.
9. Roasted Pine Nuts, salted.
10. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, salted.
11. Edamame, traditional.
12. Roasted Jackfruit Seeds, traditional.

^ #3 I used to get them from Trader Joes's and mix 'em up.
I wouldn't call edamame a nut but I do love them steamed.
