One day by hook n crook you have to accept the fact you are GOD. The more you delay, the more you deny, the more you act all holy and sh-- in "false modesty" thinking it is quote unquote blasphemy, the more you will suffer.

Just posted on FB:

A life lesson that I understood first hand (post-flotation therapy) that Tony Robbins and others kept saying is the fact: Life happens for me, and not to me.

But the way God works his magic is absolutely brilliant and nothing short of a miracle.

For instance you might think that guy who cut you off in traffic with sharp turn is a total d--.. lol, but in reality "Universe" via him could've cut you off from taking some flight that may crash or a possible unsavory meeting.

This is why it is important to realize that "good" or "bad" simply doesn't exist. The right dosage at the right time is exactly what is needed which may either be "good" or "bad".

And that ain't the weed talkin' ladies and genl'men.

Everyone in this world is born bouncing baby of Light and Spirit. But then something goes haywire along the line. As a kid, suppose they want a toy or a comic book and frustrated parent doing 10 hours of work barks "poishaa gase dhore naa?" "Cheletar baynar ar shesh nai..." or say a kid believes she can fly and parents shut her down because THEY don't believe that. Parents sometimes in Western countries taker her to psychiatrist thinking she must have schizophrenia.

As a result, the child becomes increasingly disillusioned and frustrated in life. As she grows up her subconscious will find ALL AND EVERY means to justify her p[perception that this is a cruel cold world and you cannot always get what you want. That you must work HARD towards your goal./ That you need EFFORT.

Of course these are all bullshit beliefs.

But subconscious and RAS (reticular activating system) will seek out and sort out belief that justifies her perception, She will grow up to a be a 'scientist' or engage in heavily skepticism (read : cynicism) laden academia.

There is nothing wrong with analytical or critical thinking. But when it becomes rampant and you are doubtful of everything except your won doubts and don't put your OWN assumptions,. axioms and beliefs to stand..

...then that is a problem.

Since a child was hurt in the past growing up she will always harbor those type of feelings how bitter, cold the world is. She will grow up to be a skeptic and at every waking turn of events look for those justifications to justify her beliefs.

But it is only her pain.

These needs to be resolved before one spread one's negativity around. You don't take a garbage bag and dump in the middle of a party, so why do you take your cynical attitude in a gathering?

There is that stupid quote about how pessimists think of the parachute. I don't think that is a fair description of a pessimist. Pessimists are never solution oriented. Always seeks for problem/ Always bitter and cynical and looks for problems even when there aren't and will always doubt. these are the people who are NOT Roger Bannister or Edmund do Hillary or people who walked on moon.

Cynicism never helped anyone or anything and is extremely acerbic and unhealthy and a form of mental illness stemming from unresolved issues.

Think of Google. If you plug in why it is impossible to walk on water, sure enough you will land in skepdic.com or Michael Shermer and ilk's pages and what not. If you plug in why people can walk on water, you will find spiritual pages or some Hindu yogis anecdotal tale or Jesus or people brainwashed by Christ love saying that one is made of energy and yadda yadda and spiritual alchemy or transmutation and what not...

Point being, you will get what you will see int he world. RAS

All children are born as burst of positive rays of sunshine with brimming and limitless hope of energy. Its only the societal conditioning, trauma, negative upbringing that pounds, and grinds down that ting called HOPE with the caustic bitter stern tone of a parent, authority or Church or Islamic clerics "You musn think like that!!!!!!!!" or a rather less positive "You cannot always get what you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So shut up!!!!!" and thus the child is hurt.

To counter it, a child can become manipulative and play the 'goody goody' white knight or white saint or "daddy's sweet little girl" or 'boy' to conform to their wishes, needs or demands so as to cajole them to give them what they want.

Or the grow up to uber-aholes like me who questions everything with a dark side or brash, aggressiveness where his or my frustrations are channeled in form of rage, rant and anger.

Both are destructive and unhealthily in my pinon. Both needs to be addressed. Both are polar extremes. Both are form of mental illness.

I also like how in our culture we normalize parents telling little kids "ami tore khun koira falabo [expletives]" and pretend child is to fault and blame and must feel guilty after all we manipulatively control them by saying 'baba Mayer payer niche behest'...

No wonder region where there is conservative parenting either from third world countries and Midwest they end up breeding Chris Kyle and terrorists.

If you can't be loving parents you got no business in breeding. Fix yourself first instead of spreading hate around.

Buddhists monks at least got THAT right.

Reminds me of Syed Shamsul Haque's poem where the Razakar dad selling his daughter says his daughter is possessed by jinns.

Biggest Razakar resides within.

God doesn't punish or shame. Unfortunately this is a big issue that mainstream Judeo-Christian-Islamic religion misses the mark by a long shot.

How does one define consciousness? A physician, or a biochemist or a neurologist will commonly call the mind simply the entire set of operations of the brain. In this sense, consciousness is fundamentally a function of the brain and therefore in principle we should be able to identify neural mechanisms that give rise to consciousness. This, of course, does not begin to tell us what to look for in the brain. We must first come to terms with the defining characteristics of consciousness if we are to develop a productive definition. Consciousness is ordinarily thought of as a state of awareness. Three dominant features to awareness:
subjectivity,
unity, and
intentionality.

The subjectivity of conscious experience is its defining characteristic and the characteristic that poses the greatest scientific challenge. Each of us experiences a world of private and unique sensations. Our own experience seems much more real to us than the experiences of others. Our own ideas, moods, and sensations—our successes and disappointments, joys and pains—are experienced directly, whereas we can only appreciate other people's ideas, moods, and sensations by referring to our own direct experience. Are the blue you see and the lavender you smell identical to the blue that I see and the lavender that I smell? The fact that conscious experience is uniquely personal and intensely subjective raises the question of whether it is even possible to determine objectively some common characteristics of consciousness in different individuals. If the senses ultimately produce only subjective experience, we cannot, the argument goes, use those same senses to arrive at an objective understanding of experience.

The unitary nature of consciousness refers to the fact that our experiences come to us as a unified whole: All of the various sensory modalities are melded into a single conscious experience. Thus, when we sit down to breakfast we feel the chair against our back, hear the sound of news in the background, and taste the fruity flavor of the orange juice as a single experience. Our perceptions not only appear whole for the instant of the experience, but they appear to be whole and continuous over time. When we speak to our dinner partners we do so in whole sentences and pay little if any attention to the process of constructing the sentence, yet we are aware that we are completing an idea. Finally, consciousness has intentionality. Our experiences have meaning beyond the physical sensations of the moment. Our mind can connect with and represent the range of our experiences. In earlier times these special features of consciousness led many philosophers to a dualistic view of mind, a view that the body had a physical existence but the mind did not, and therefore the mind was not a proper subject of the natural sciences. Now almost all contemporary philosophers of mind agree that what we call consciousness derives from physical properties of the brain. Since consciousness has properties that other brain functions do not (subjectivity, unity, and intentionality), a physicalist explanation of consciousness poses a formidable scientific problem.

But Daniel Dennet as the Rockstar of Philosophy he is find no issues to that. To him it is just computational workings no matter how discrete it is for each individual. Probably why Steven Weinberg mentioned: “I don't see how anyone but George will ever know how it feels to be George. On the other hand, I can readily believe that at least in principle we will be able to explain all of George's behavior reductively, including what he says about what he feels, and that consciousness will be one of the emergent higher-level concepts appearing in this equation.”

Great post above. You did not elaborate on intentionality.

If consciousness is simply an emergent property due to correct combination of biological elements, it cannot explain intentionality. We can not only think, but before we think, we can decide what we want to think about

It is surprising that no one knew about Casino's.

Anyways, Casino's were never the problem. In-fact Casino's kept football afloat in Bangladesh. Each decent footballer gets wages of over 20 lakh per season. Where do you think the clubs get the money from?

If you love English Premier league , which is the most watched league in the world, you will find that most of the jerseys are sponsored by betting companies.

Personally, I think Casino's/betting should be legalized. This would help government to earn revenues and at the same time, footballers will have a career to look forward to (earn some money from the sports).

Of-course given how most people in Bangladesh including the "so called" Secular government is actually "ultra conservative", it would be idiotic to expect the government to do anything that would upset the hujurs maulanas and moulavis.

Interest based transactions are also haram. But we do not see that getting banned from the banking sectors or any business deals.

Rape, bribery and corruption are also haram. Havent seen much actions taken to stop those either unfortunately. Or are they playing that pick and choose game

Is your car muslim too? How about your toilet paper?

You are simply taking away the souce of income for most footballers in Bangladesh (along with hockey, handball etc players). Of-course it doesn't matter to you because you are not impacted. Just like Haram/Halal never mattered to our muslim brothers and sisters suffering from diabetes when insulin was extracted from Pigs. However it does matter now that a synthetic version is available and used. Grow up.

Bangladesh is Bangladesh, it is as much my country as it is yours.

na bhai, halal mangsho matter korey na. Shotti bolte kono dhormo matter kore na.

Infact My most profound realization has been the fact that the evidence for God, as described in Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism or Islam, is equally poor. The God as described in any of these holy books is not at all merciful. Infact, God as described by these holy books is a sadistic, vindictive blood thirsty ethnic cleanser, petty, homophobic, mysoginistic, unjust and unforgiving control freak. I think Richard dawkins described it right with better adjectives.

Achcha, ekhon vujsi apni kun typer public.

Meanwhile, some BAL guy said we need to legalize our illegal casino industry to attract foreigners. I would rather we don't have foreigners coming to our country for the wrong reasons.

100%. You are right about the wages. I know some guys who play in the top division, and they told me the same thing, that they take home upwards of 20 lakhs a year, plus big bonuses after every match. Given the state of soccer in our country, I always did wonder where the money came from.

It should definitely be legalized, but they should build casinos, not house it in the club's properties. That's the only thing I have an issue with. Just like they gave licenses to bars, they should give licences to casinos. And the next step should be to make it legal for all, not make people get permits.

If the casinos are legalized, they can be heavily taxed. It will have bars, will attract foreigners and investors. It will increase our tourism, cash flow in our treasury. And with that money, government can feed the poor. Win Win for everyone

And Our beloved Khaled Mahmud Sujon will finally have a place to eat.

What is the image of Bangladesh?
If building Casino's would cause hunger and famine (which is how your statement sounds like) then Vegas would be Somalia/South Sudan now.

On the contrary as "Roman" pointed, Casino's would bring revenue to the government, would generate employment and tourism opportunity.

Bangladeshi's and Pakistani's are desperate to emulate the Arabs(muslims). Funny thing is that while Emirates and Etihad's of this world would gladly serve alcohol in their flight, Biman chose to be a dry airlines. We are only harming our country and going backward by forcing people to conform to standards devised by the 7th century arabs. The world has moved on since then, we decide to stay stagnant (infact move backwards)
