Kingfisher has operation in Bangladesh. Probably he would use that entity to buy a team, if the news is true. However, I'm pleased with the fact that Indian investers are interested in the tournament. This would increase the money flow and we might end up having a good T20 and ODI team.

^^ Kingfisher has operation in Bangladesh, but VM and his company would have to be careful to distinguish that from their beverage unit.

A foreign stakeholder in the BPL would make it very interesting indeed.
But then again, with Indian intervention, we might like to read the details first.

they will definitely want to promote their products in BD. its no surprise that Indian investors wants to invest in BPL. Bangladesh is potentially the biggest market for India if not already.

I wont be surprised if each franchise sells for 75 Crore Taka. Thats $10 Million.
Nothing really for many corporate houses, if they can arrange a soccer match for $5M.

Yes it would. I'm thinking if we are lucky we might actually get a team in the CL T20 qualifier in the near future. I think now that they are doing the qualifier for CL T20, they should allow a T20 franchise from BD, maybe even Zim. We'd definitely get more support than any teams from Caribbean or NewZeland. Beside it's just the qualifier, it's almost like 'dudh bhat'

বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (বিপিএল)‘র প্রতি আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছে চারটি ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠান। যার সবগুলোই ভারতীয় কোম্পানী।

সলিউশন আন লিমিটেড, গেম অ্যান্ড স্পোর্টস ম্যানেজমেন্ট, শো টাইমস স্পোর্টস ও সামারসেট অ্যাসেনশিয়াল। প্রথম তিনটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের প্রতিনিধিরা শনিবার সরাসরি হোটেল রূপসী বাংলায় উপস্থিত থেকে বিপিএল আয়োজক কমিটির কাছে তাদের প্রকল্প এবং প্রস্তাবনা তুলে ধরেন। সামার সেট প্রস্তাবনা পাঠিয়েছে ইমেইলের মাধ্যমে।

বিপিএল কমিটির সম্পাদক সিরাজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর জানিয়েছেন,“কোন প্রতিষ্ঠানই অর্থনৈতিক প্রস্তাব দেয়নি। কিভাবে বিপিএল আয়োজন করা যায় সে বিষয়ে তারা একটি প্রস্তাবনা তুলে ধরেছে। আমরা সেগুলো থেকে আইনজীবীর মাধ্যমে গাইডলাইন তৈরি করে ১৬ নভেম্বরের মধ্যে তাদেরকে দেবো। এরপর তারা আমাদেরকে অর্থনৈতিক প্রস্তাব দেবে।”

ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠানের সঙ্গে খেলোয়াড়দের এজেন্টরাও উপস্থিত ছিলেন অনুষ্ঠানে। আলমগীর জানান, বিশ্বের নামিদামি খেলোয়াড়রা ঢাকায় খেলতে রাজি আছে বলে জানিয়েছেন প্লেয়ার এজেন্ট। তার মতে,“আমরা খুশি যে লন্ডন থেকে এজেন্ট ব্যক্তিত্বরা এসেছেন। ভারতের অরুন লাল ছিলেন আমাদের পাশে। আশা করি আমরা সফল হতে পারবো।”

পাঁচটি প্রতিষ্ঠান বিসিবির আহবানে সাড়া দিয়েছিলো। তার মধ্যে একটি ছিলো দেশের কোম্পানী। শেষমুহূর্তে দেশি প্রতিষ্ঠানটি প্রস্তাবনা উপস্থাপন করেনি।

বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (বিপিএল) আয়োজন নিয়ে তোড়জোর চলছে। বহুল আলোচিত এই টি-টোয়েন্টি প্রতিযোগিতা আগামী ফেব্রুয়ারিতে আয়োজনের নীতিগত সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে।

টুর্নামেন্টের সার্বিক বিষয় চূড়ান্ত করার জন্য বৃহস্পতিবার বিকেলে জরুরী সভায় বসেছেন বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) পরিচালকরা। যদিও বিসিবির মিডিয়া কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান জালাল ইউনুস জানিয়েছেন সভায় চূড়ান্ত কোন সিদ্ধান্ত হয়নি।

সভায় যোগ দেওয়ার আগে বিপিএল আয়োজক কমিটির সম্পাদক সিরাজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর জানান, ছয়টি দল নিয়ে হবে লোভনীয় টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেট প্রতিযোগিতা। খেলা আয়োজন করবে ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট কমিটি। বিসিবি থাকবে সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে। ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাছ থেকে একটা নির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণ অর্থ নেবে বিসিবি। লাভক্ষতি নিয়ে মাথা ঘামাবেন না তারা।

ছয় দলের খেলা হবে ৩৩টি ম্যাচ। ডাবল লিগের খেলায় ফাইনাল ম্যাচ হবে একটি। বিদেশের অনেক ক্রিকেটার বিপিএল এ খেলার আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছেন বলে জানান আলমগীর। তিনি বলেন,“প্লেয়ার এজেন্ট থেকে আমাদেরকে আশ্বস্ত করেছে অন্তত ছয় সাতটি দেশের মূল খেলোয়াড়দের পাওয়া যাবে ফেব্রুয়ারিতে। ওই সময় ভারত, অস্ট্রেলিয়া এবং শ্রীলঙ্কা ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজ খেলবে। তাই তাদের প্রথম সারির খেলোয়াড় পাওয়া যাবে না। আমরা চেষ্টা করবো জাতীয় দলের বাইরে থাকা খেলোয়াড়দের নিলামে তুলতে।”

৮০ জন বিদেশি এবং ১০০ থেকে ১২০ জন দেশী খেলোয়াড়কে নিলামে রাখা হবে বলে জানান বিপিএল সম্পাদক। শেন ওয়ার্নও খেলতে আগ্রহী বাংলাদেশের লিগে।

I once read an article in The Independent where it also stated that Adam Gilchrist & Shane Warne might play in BPL.

I think we can pull this off. In the cricketing world, after India, Bangladesh has the biggest audience market (Pak too but no foreign players will go there now).

SL also tried to come up with their own version but they relied too much of BCCI. The Indian companies would be much more willing to invest in Bdeshi market which is 4-5 times bigger than SL market.

But I won't support all matches to be played at Dhaka. They should make divisional franchises and make games in home-away format. In that way all the matches will be sold out.

বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (বিপিএল) টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেট লিগ থেকে প্রথম বছরই ৩০ কোটি টাকা আয় করবে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি)।

যে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি সবচেয়ে বেশি অর্থ দিতে রাজি হয়েছে এবং প্রতিযোগিতা মানসম্পন্ন ভাবে আয়োজনের প্রস্তাবনা পেশ করেছে তাদেরকেই বিপিএল আয়োজনের দায়িত্ব দেওয়ার প্রস্তাব করা হয়েছে বলে জানান কমিটির সদস্য সচিব সিরজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর।

বিপিএল আয়োজনের দায়িত্ব পেতে ভারতের তিনটি ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠান জেমন্ড, সলিউশন আন লিমিটেড ও শো টাইম প্রাথমিক ভাবে মনোনিতো হয়েছিলো। ১৬ নভেম্বর তাদের প্রস্তাবনা তুলে ধরার পর আইনগত এবং আনুসঙ্গীক দিক খতিয়ে দেখে বিসিবি। পরে তাদেরকে অর্থনৈতিক প্রস্তাব করতে বলা হয়। তিনটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্য থেকে সার্বিক বিবেচনায় যারা প্রথম হয়েছে বুধবারের সভায় তাদেরকেই বিপিএল আয়োজনের সত্ত্ব দেওয়ার সুপারিশ করেছে কমিটি। সলিউশন আন লিমিটেড এই দয়িত্ব পাচ্ছে বলে জানা গেছে।

বিপিএল কমিটির সদস্য সচিব সিরাজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর বাংলানিউজকে জানান,“বোর্ড সভায় অনুমোদনের পর নাম প্রকাশ করা হবে। অনুমোদনের আগেই প্রকাশ করা হলে অন্য প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো হতাশ হবে।”

যে প্রতিষ্ঠানকেই দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হোক তারা ছয় বছরের জন্য বিসিবির সঙ্গে চুক্তিবদ্ধ হবে। প্রথম বছর ৩০ কোটিরও বেশি টাকা দেবে। আলমগীর জানান, প্রথম বছর শেষে হলে পরের বছর বেশি অর্থ দিতে হবে। এভাবে প্রতিবছরই আর্থিক মুনাফা করবে বিসিবি। তবে সেটা কি হারে বাড়ানো হবে তা জানা যায়নি।

প্রতিযোগিতা আয়োজনের সময় নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে ২০১২ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসবে। তবে নির্ধারিত দিনক্ষণ চূড়ান্ত হয়নি।
