Bat first. Sending them to bat first may backfire on us as our bowling is not full strength despite the possibility of early morning success.
Let's see if we can survive until day 4....crucial test match Sri Lanka is expected to go all guns blazing. Bat first and bat until at least lunch day 2. If we bowl first we must bowl them out under 300 to win this game. This match is likely to have a result.
If we can score at least 400 in the first innings, we have a good shot at winning.

LOL let's be honest, there is no way Sri Lankan pacers can be considered only "slightly" better than our's. No other international team have pacers as bad as our's. Abul and Shahadat couldn't bowl two balls on the same spot if their life depended on it. The SL pacers may not have been effective on that pitch (not sure any bowler would have been), but they were fairly economical and bowled in good areas. We definitely should focus on playing their pacers well on this pitch.

Having seen the pitch ...it's a real dilemma whether to bat or bowl first.
Batting first and losing 3/4 wickets in first hour will almost mean in back foot; but having a chance to see how the pitch behaves, might help our batsmen to adjust better. But then you have to take the pressure of batting last.
I think, we haven't yet learnt to give a target for the last innings too... Even if we do well batting first, that wil also come into play...
Considering all, I'd prefer to go with bowl first.....and take the advantage of early movement...

It's raining now and there is a 50% chance of rain in Colombo tomorrow...so it will be a even better idea to bowl first..
In fact sat and Sunday both have a 50% chance of rain..

I don't think there's any point in trying to exploit any early movement in the pitch. Our pace bowlers just aren't capable. After 15 overs or so we'll bring spin on as usual, and from there on it'll be SL dominance for the rest of the innings.
Bat first. No-brainer. Surely our batsmen are good enough to withstand some early swing. Expect a couple of wickets early on, but similar application to our first innings from the last test, and we'll survive to put on a decent enough total. Don't want to be chasing on a sporting 5th day wicket.

Sanga gave us at least once chance in all these innings.
I remember in one of the doubles Mushy dropped a simple catch. I think bowler was a spinner.

Except you don't know, it will be 2 or 5 down in 15 overs in a pace friendly conditions... If they can do it with 2 down, that's pretty good. I don't have that confidence with the kind of foot works our boyz have. So I feel it's safe for them to watch the conditions first by watching what the pitch does...

Should we not be introducing Marshall Ayub? I would give him a match instead of Mominul.

Mominul just had a 50+ innings. Dropping him would be little harsh

In that case we should have 11 debutants every match
I want Marshal too, but I think he'll have to wait little longer

You can't be a Bangladesh cricket fan and have a life. You're either a fan or not.
