Make UDRS mandatory
http://www.cricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-...ry/467049.html
This is not just my opinion. Kumar Sangakara also wants it. Today it did cost us our morale and, to a smaller extent, respectibility. It is no accident that the minnows gets the wrong end of the deal. There is much less risk for the umpires to err in favor the more established (i.e. stronger) teams. I suspect that It is istictive and, therefore, not done intentionally. In UDRS we have a simple solution for it. I also wonder why ICC does not issue a match report on the performance of the umpires. They certainly evaluate it and, therefore, must be automatically avialble to the cricket boards. Why not share it among the ones who pay for it (i.e. those of us go the games or shell out sizeable fortune to the broadcasters and to the advertizers)? I am ...'ed beyond belief. Let us mount a grassroots movement for making UDRS mandatory.

No cricket board will agree to foot the bill as they will be the beneficiary in the absence of UDRS.

For BD, no UDRS means going to a game knowing the batsman maybe out if the ball touches anypart of his body. Once shakib was given LBW after ball touching his arm. Its like playing against 14 (incl 3rd ump).
Let the umpires say it: We are not letting BD win. Period. So we can all save time and money.
I dont know why BD media is not vocal about umpires and UDRS.

why can't ICC simply fund the hotspot and be done with it ? that seems to be the primary sticking point.

Exactly. Instead of trying to hire an overpaid former prime-minister they should spend the money where it has chance to improve the game and make it a fair deal. BTW, how much a snickometer can cost? I can see that multiple cameras and computer system/software can cost a bundle. But ICC can afford it.

seriously, there are seldom more than 2 test series at one time. they can easily afford 3-4 sets of equipment and operators for all test matches.
