good job bangladesh football team. i think if we keep this new coach for long time we will be able to compete with teams like thailand, malaysia. these two teams were the same as us in 80s. now they can beat us easily. but the recent performance by our football team gives us hope that in near future we will reach the same status as thailand and malaysia. now we need to beat india and retain the saff championship.

Well done Bangladesh for beating Pakistan and moving to the final
But this was expected as Bangladesh always had a better soccer team than Pakistan. Now we have to beat India in the final to show our true worth.
Inshallah the boys will do that too

Wow!
Hmmm ... speechless.
Man! Only if any of our political leadership had a fraction of his love for the country.

Great job BD boys.
Couple of comments:
Why is this thread not in Other sports?
If you follow the logic that when we beat Pakistan in soccer we honor our Bir Shahids, does that mean everytime we get our butt kicked by their cricket team we are dishonoring our Liberation warriors? It never ceases to amaze me how people will slap our Bir Shahid's name on every trivial sports thing!

Aren't you asking the wrong crowd? I thought it was moderators' job to correct this type of mistake.

Personally I do not feel that we are honoring or dishonoring anyone when we win or lose against Pakistan. And that's where I am in total agreement with you.
But in this particular instance, when the team captain dedicates this victory to the '71 shahids after beating Pakistan on their soil couple of days before our Bijoy Dibosh, it does inspire a lot of nationalistic feelings. And I do not see anything wrong with that.
At any other time, I'd agree with your comments. But please let's not be too PC and forget the context.. Political correctness in this specific case is officious rather than professional. We are not being vain, we are being proud.

You are right - however - I have been away from this thread for a bit and wanted to first sound things out from the posters rather than moving it outright to Other Sports.

Point taken. I too am proud about the performance in the semi-final. In going through some of the posts here though, it seemed that some folks were going a tad beyond being just proud. BTW this interjection of mine isn't spurred by a sense of PC. Rather, I'm quite sensitive to amader Muktijodhdha's being commoditised.

Just for the record, I am in total agreement with Mahmood (the member) & RazabQ (the member) that mixing sports and politics can be very explosive proposition and I personally usually I try not to do so.
I also realize why some members are getting added booster thrill out of this game. And the quote from the captains remarks elaborate why this win may no longer be just another win for some of the Bangladeshi fans. Actually shaoun eloquently explained that in his comment.
On principle I have no reason to argue Mahmoods (the member) point of view because I also believe that. However I also see AsifTheManRahmans point and the reality of the situation.

Please welcome our newest BC member, villageidiot. I wonder what could be the temptation for him to choose such a username.
Welcoming methods:
1.u2u
2.open a thread in forget cricket section.
I myself like the u2u method. Some more enthusiastic member might want to go for the open thread method.

I saw this post 24 days back! This is in page one. May be the Mod missed it. I should have U2U'ed. But then thought well members are very excited on this matter and no BD-International cricket going on. So what the heck.

I guess one of the BC admin guys noticed this issue.
But the admin guy thought this live broadcasting announcement from bdlive should be on the BD cricket section, otherwise most people would not know about bdlive's effort. So, this thread was left on the BD cicket section. But later on bdlive was not able to broadcast the matches and did not post any message about not broadcasting either. Gradually this thread became SAFF Cup thread, but was left untouched in BD cricket section.

If I am not mistaken ,this is soccer(football) schedule what it has to do with a Cricket forum?

I can see where you guys are coming from. But would you like to hear about it 2 weeks after the games are over? If it was posted in the 'other sports' section, that would happen for many fans.
so, i'd say, we can break the rule here this much, and you guys can let it go.

Salutations to the "Bombing Booters from Bengal Bay"
I'm just thinking, how can we improve the standard of our football so that we can compete against the likes of China and Bahrain? These are World Cup standard teams. Our nation deserves a good football team. Whole world is mesmerized by stupid Mexican wave and Brazillian Samba. If we made it to the World Cup, then "ash beta thoke dekhamu samba! Bangla Samba dekhamu!" Whole world wont be able to sleep with the cries of Joy Bangla and Bangladesh ZIndabad. It'll replace their weak chants of "Ole Ole Ole."
Just dreaming.....

Anybody knows if there is any way for BD soccer fans living outside BD to watch the final of SAFF tournament on the web ?
Will appreciate very much if you please provide us with the link.
Thanks

Thanks!
I would have liked to see the match to have an idea of level of south-asian football, but no way the match will be broadcasted in Europe I guess!

Asia is the weakest continent at football but I like to see them play at the WC because they play offensive football, with much running (especially east asia teams) but missing physical strength.
