Awsum thread. Can you also post who was dropped in each of these cases? Will give us a good idea about what the impact of these dropped catches would have been.

The one Shafiul dropped in the test was not only simple but he also fumbled it out of the rope for a six! He had enough time go under it and take comfortable catch. He needs to work on his ability to grasp. Possibily, he should learn to catch Koi mach (doctor fish) during light drizzle. I seen these fish walk across from pond to pond and local kids are quite adept at catching these.

New and creative way to bash players. I am not sure what purpose this serves other than finding a new avenue to 'stickify' mistakes.

Team management must know these things and shield the butter fingers away from potential drops. Just read the self explanatory table I created. Shafiul needs to take bathroom breaks more often when he is not bowling. And while he is fielding he should be placed where catches are not regular. I love this boy!! He bowls with head. He is a must just like Mo Rafique.

Yes, sir whatever you say!! Catches allow team from becoming ordinary to 20 wicket taking nation. Ask Mashrafe when he dropped history!! This is something that only reenforces the need a fielding coach as well.

Shafiul dropping Guptill on 4 runs was a big one. Not only the fact that he added another 185 but the fact that we would've been exposed to the tail and got them out for a much less than the eventual 553. We could've had an innings lead.

What you guys are doing is banking on or tagging someone for failure in future, unfairly maybe. Drop catches will happen as long as the game lives. The best ones will drop too. Teams know their best catchers and weaklings. They position players on field accordingly. We do it too. There is nothing new you can provide to the team with this drop count, and I am sure they are waiting all hands on deck to wake up next morning, and run to the fax machine for the new update from BC.

Excellent thread Tiger Manc.
Excellent work, as usual, by Mijan bhai. Yeah, pretty self explanatory.

"Catches win matches."
Its as simple as that.

I'm pretty sure, or i'd rather hope, that some BCB officials and even the staff members of the cricket team do visit this forum. If they havent been already addresing this issue, at least they can pick it up.

Tables like what Mijan bhai provided, certainly gives a massive head start then.
Now let us have a look at the ODI stats Miraz bhai.

Nice thread.

A few catches here and there are part of the game. But drops in frequency and repeat offenders highlight some problems that need to be addressed.

Can we add stumpings to that list as well?

So far the two worst offenders Shafiul and Mushfiq have been the costliest as well. Dilshan's catch vs. SL, Guptil's in the 1st innings and Broom's in the 1st ODI all could be turned the game from an embarassment to an actual W for us.

Why do we even talk about players enable to rotate strike, players too slow, players with hot head? About anything actually? BCB's fax number gets busy at that time? Fans have every right to discuss anything attached with the game. Be it catching or hitting sixes!!!

Your logic is not sound at all here. Drop catches are part of the game. However, cronic to this players need to be identified and may be work on it more. You are the only one as of now are critical of this thread which is fine by me.

According to your logic, we will have to stop the whole BC forum as no one from BCB reads what we are discussing here. Right? If not, then there is fan page in the Facebook called "Understanding that I am in the wrong side but still keep arguing"--become a fan of that page

Look T_E, even the better fielders will drop from time to time. Mash drop was huge against Australia, yet he is one of the safest in the team, safe enough that for a pace bowler, he often fields in cover. Ironically, against Australia he was in deep fine leg, a safe spot so to speak, but the ball went to him. Sakib, Tamim , Riyad etc also dropped recently, yet they are our better fielders. Who wouldn't want to see 100% record in catching. I would love it. But, thats not going to happen. Whats going to happen is the same good fielders will stay in prime catching positions, take catches, but will also let off once in a while. Its better for them to qucikly forget it and move on. Fans should do it as well. This sticky ficky of drop catches just celebrates guilty pleasures. We are used to century threads, congrats threads, and now Hall of shame as well. It will aslo unfairly tag a good fielder as a butter fingered one if he drops here and there ( inevitable ).

Anyway, Its totally fine that you want to focus on negativity. You don't have to listen to my different point of view.
