I didnt find him shaky this morning. He looked to score and cant blame him for that. He paced the innings late. And unlike other batsmen, he didnt give his wicket away. Good comeback... Clearly this slot if better suiting him

Good innings from Riyad. Needs to continue this in the remainder of the series in order to silence the critics.

I have seen first time following our top order, lower order also did well. I was doubt of Ryad's performance, but he did his job.

He is back with his form. Not perfect, but better than Sakib's shaky innings.

I think Shakib and Mushy both need to bat lower down the order now. They have huge roles to play during fielding, so the later they bat the more rest they will get unless we have a batting collapse. I think moving Riyad and Nasir ahead of Shakib and Mushy is something we can try.

quite agree. i think, for the time being and for the sake of balance, mushy should come at #3(fatigue will be an issue but dont see any other option) followed by naeem, riyad, shakib (to have enough rest) & nasir.
if shakib comes at #6 then he will face the tired fast bowlers and can more easily play his game. Riyad is also being waste down the order since he is middle order batter and hope #5 would suit him.

These are crucial positions but a batsman of Mahmudullah's caliber (in bd context) is more suited at no. 4, 5 or 6. Since those are taken, the only places left are no. 2 and 3 (or you can ask Mushy to bat at 8!). The top three require a solid batsman and as bizarre as it may sound, Mahmudullah could become a decent no. 3 providing he gets used to that position in the NCL. This could be our stop-gap solution until Anamul/Mominul is ready (we do need to nurture them for a while).
Playing 4 specialist (quality) bowlers with Shakib will give us a better chance of taking more wickets (imagine the difference Enamul/Sunny could have made in this test). We can draw a test by batting well but if we want to win one, we have got to bowl them out!

This is what he's capable of doing once he gets his eye in and summons up the courage to take responsibility. Looking forward to his 2nd test tomorrow InshAllah

nah he should stay where he is in the batting order. Brings the best out of the tail somehow. Not by protecting them, but by simply allowing them to face more balls as he takes single at the start of every over he faces, and its up to the bowlers to face the might of test strike bowlers like fidel, which gradually enables them to get their eye in and play shots like abul.

Riyad, you missed out on a 100 in the first Test on such an easy pitch.
Go and grab the second chance!

If it were any other batsmen than Riyad, i am sure they would have thrown their wicket trying to hit boundaries after boundaries batting with tail enders. Good thing about Riyad's innings was he trusted his partner even he was no.10 batsman

Abul is hogging the spotlight and rightfully so but let's not forget Mahmudullah's contributions in this match. He came in to a very tough situation and played it beautifully. Just shows how well he can play once he's in a positive frame of mind. Please get a 100 tomorrow Mahmudullah to reward your efforts!
