Yeah, that is exactly what we are trying to do. Set targets which are realistic and achievable. How does saying that we will win everytime we take the field help anyone? I think its better to set our own targets which we can get to so the players feel a sense of achievement when we do get to them rather than feeling like they failed everytime we lose, which is every game we play.

even with the as-usual batting performance today, one 50 puts us close to a decent total. it could have still been a reachable target, even now with only ten overs left, had mahmud not screwed up in the last 5 overs of the SA innings.

I would definitely say that was a big mistake from the team management ro drop Javed. He should get a few chances. Javed is much better than Sanwar in terms of batting techniques. I don't understand why did the BCB do that. Moreover, Javed is more commitiing than Sanwar.

it cannot be easy being a bangladesh selector, to give them some credit. it's not like they are having to choose between world class players. most of these guys are not qualified to play at this level, it's going to make very little difference if it is javed or sanwar since no one is consistent from one day to the next

To get a consistent performance a player needs to be in the side regularly.

Are we doing that???

Check out other players who are very consistent, they are taken in the team for every match. IF sometime they produce some bad performance that doesn't effect the decission of the selectors.

How can our players be consistent when they dropped after a bad performance and thats why they are not picking up the confidence. They always have fear of something in their mind when they go down to play except Ashraful who's is very confident.

Those players whom we know have the ability to perform and was in form in the domestic cricket should be included in the team for most of the tournament matches. They must be given some chances.

Given enough time, Kapali will turn into a world class player. Same goes for Ashraful. They not not be Tendulkar or Lara's but they don't have to be.

I was surprised to see Tareq with the ball in the earlier matches, he had a less then memorable league and he only think I can think of is that the BCB selectors were using this tournament as a test ground - if so, they did a good job. They tried out a fw combinations.

Imran Sarwar is 5 times better then Mohsin Kamal - why Lobby picked Mohsin (to please the PCB boss of course) is beyond me. Either they get a world class coach or let local coaches/players do the coaching. No point hiring folks like Mohsin who don't even have any solid club coaching experience in their resume.

Hope we had done better but given our recent performance (World Cup), I see a slight ray of hope. Atleast now I can bet that we can beat Canada (unless that Australian has other plans) 5 times out of five. (Lowered expectations - before the world cup, I would have picked Kenya, now have to be happy beating Canada).

I was thinking that Kapali will get the man of the match award because of his all-round performance (batting, bowling & fielding).
Ashraful's man of the match award in the first match with SA drove me hoping for this. But unlucky Kapali - couldn't impress Clive L. over Shaun Pollock.

Tehsin Bhai, you bring a very good point here. I think we should keep Imran as an assisstant coach. Let the foreighner teach the players technique but Imran is needed for the communication. Basically Imran can set up the expectations straight and the mild Jharis if not met. Most of our cricketers probably don't understand English - so I think communication is a big issue here.

So instead of having a bowling coach and a batting coach like many of you have suggested - I would rather go with a foreign whatever coach for the technique but Imran for kicking a$$

Kapali got the mentos playmaker of the day! for his all-round performance - so he should be happy!!! Just made 2 + G

Finally money is going to our players! Feels good!

I agree with Orpheus. Even when we do get a foreign coach, I think we should keep Imran in the national fold as assistant coach. I think that would be a good idea. As for specialist batting or bowling coaches, I don't think we need them on a full time basis. But it might be a good idea to bring different people in form time to time for workshops like we did with Roberts.

As for Kapali, an excellent all-round performance. 2 for 40 off ten overs, 71 runs and he saved about 15 runs on the field. Inspirational stuff. Hats off to him.
