We prevailed pretty easily in the end despite the crappy bowling (especially Rajib and Shakib), terrible captaincy (not putting pressure on a jumpy Sachin from the 80s/chancing Mashrafe again at death but getting away with it this time etc), contextually a huge chase (way beyond 250), and Sachin's 100th 100. I was at the stadium soaking it all in, and am likely to save my ticket forever.
This was the most special of our victories because other than the predictable failure of technically deficient and streaky yet another hugely overrated domestic bully Nazimuddin, I witnessed all of our batters for the first time: 1) batting as a cohesive unit, 2) demoralizing their so-so bowling attack into being ordinary first by frustrating it (Tamim and Aumi), and then by taking the fight straight to their doorstep (Shakib and Nasir), and 3) refusing to let it get away from them after the fall of our King.
Our Mushfiq was the Frodo who tossed the proverbial ring into the fire and shot down ISS Blue Billion out of HYPErspace, for the night.
That being said, I'm not satisfied with these leap-year wins and refuse to let my euphoria get the better of me this time. I want to see our guys turn the corner and sustain this kind of success by manning up like Shakib, Nasir and Mushfiq, and forging the type of fellowship that can make this the first of many, many more wins to come InshAllah. Gotta beat Sri Lanka and then Pakistan in the finals before I'm ready to party.
We have got to drop the dead weight we always tend to carry around, and pick administrators/selectors/coaches who nurture players with real ability tested on real pitches within a real first class infrastructure.

It was a combination of all the mentioned factors. But the one that stands out most for me was the belief shown by the team. We have never chased down such a target against a top team and if I'm correct this is also the highest successful run-chase in the SBNS by any team. It would've been easy to get over-awed by these facts and figures and the earlier events of the day yet the team did not surrender and fought on. The brand of cricket that Shakib, Mushfiq and Nasir played I don't think I have ever seen Bangladesh play this type of cricket. Mushfiq and his boys had a plan and they executed it tremendously well.

The best part is the smile on Nasir's face after Mushy hitting the 3rd 6.

Yes, that was quite emotional. I thought they might smash the glass window in excitement.

I've been watching him for a while now and have always been impressed by his bowling. He can turn the ball, use drift and is always hungry for wickets. Sadly, Mushfiq (the C-WK, NOT the RHB) wants him the bowl like a sissy or not bowl at all.
Batting-wise I've always loved his temperament balanced with a positive attitude, a very rare combination for our kind. He has been improving in every match since debut, Shakib did too BTW, and I have sky-high hopes for him. Both Shakib and he are young and have their best years (27-35) ahead of them InshAllah.
I hope other next gen players with real ability like Bijauy, Shubhagauto, Rumman, Fazle Rabbi, Shoummo, KI Rabbi and Shubhashish come into the side soon, hang-in there and learn to sustain success like Shakib and Nasir.
