Its hard being someone like Mominul who is our only 'test specialist' so that means getting to play 3-4 non-Zimbabwe matches (if we're lucky) the whole year and spend the rest in our sub-par domestics.
He barely gets any action or face quality opposition and bowling, nothing to test his skills and hardly any opportunities to develop his game. He's bound to become rusty if he's hardly being used at all

He got out to a very, very good, almost unplayable ball.
Hard to tell if he's rusty based on just one delivery, esp one that was that good.
But whether he's rusty or not doesn't change the fact that BCB failed to prepare the team well for these series.

Not only England
...may be also the Nz series..... Then before the India series we need to reconsider his position......
Although for Nz conditions.... Soumya or nafees can be considered in no.3 and rest going 1 down and take Shabbir out

He should be selected for both of the practice matches. Pathetic selectors.

The boy is completely out of form, has no confidence in himself as well. He has been given so many chances in ODI to be in/around international games, but he failed. That itself proves he has some technical issues, especially in defence while playing TEST match if the pitch is not flat.
At this moment he is just a walking wicket, should not be in the test team IMO, in fact no off form players should. Let him find his form again in local games and bring him in.
@Rifat, Its not about my liking or disliking the boy, I will be more than happy to eat whatever pie if he comes back strong, it would be all good for our team anyway.

But you wouldn't be too quick to give Soumya a free pass.

Mominul is a flat track bully. He has performed in the flat tracks as he has hunger for runs.
The fault lies in BCB for not arranging an A team series for a looooong time. Zimbabwe, WI, Pak, all of these teams would gladly sent their A team to BD

Momin's reverse cumulative average against G8 -
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...rse_cumulative
His downward spiral since Hathuru took over, ie Windies tour, is very visible. He needs to pull out of it soon.

If mominul can't be in the team for shorter formats then he will struggle, just won't get enough cricket under his belt. Like mushy said, he started at about the same time as cook and cook has 100+ matches under his belt while mushy hasn't reached his 50th yet.

Dude, Soumya struggled against Afghanistan... what more you want me to say??
Mominul at least clocked a century against Zimbabwe. jus saying!
with that being said, Soumya needs to work with the Coaches(not discarding him or dropping him)

Initially, Mominul clearly struggled yesterday; as one of his biggest fans, i will admit that. However, once he survived initial scar, he looked a completely different batsmen and then he was out. a couple of his drives were oozing with class, authority and man full of confidence.
He needs more competitive cricket, he is not lacking in confidence but rather quality match practice. Soumya have been given the Entire World T20, Afghan series etc...(Soumya has had quality match practice but lack of confidence...BIG difference between the two). Soumya's case is for the ODI team(where there are many BD players knocking the door). Mominul's test case there are not too many players knocking his door(except maybe Mosaddek but wasn't even selected and Mosaddek can probably replace someone else).
With that being said, I expect at least one 50+ innings from him in the next test.

Took a beautiful catch on the first ball of the second day. It was beautiful, well grasped and cuddled.

I missed Momin's 2nd inn, how was he ?
What do you guys think about his weakness and his strength, does he play spin better or pace ?what type of dismissal he is prone to ?

Agreed, he looked good in 2nd innings till he was out. Lack of match practice probably played a part but pitch definitely did.
Premature talk of dropping him after only one(!) test, and he wasn't even that poor or anything. Got out to a nearly unplayable delivery in 1st innings, and it was very hard to bat in 2nd innings as well.
Never looked like a 50 avg player but has the ability to avg in the 40s.

The first test match was for him to shave off the rust, he looked great against the spinners today.
