Default What's our surprise element?

In 2007, we had an unknown (to the rest of the world) Tamim Iqbal smashing Indian pacers all over the park. We also had a relatively little known Shakib Al Hasan making a huge difference for the team.

I see many other teams (such as SA, NZ, WI) bringing uncapped and little known players to this edition of WC. I wonder if we have any surprise element of our own in mind. Perhaps a masterblaster in form of SN back from hiatus? Or a boomshakalaka Ash in the late order?

Default Imo

  • Shafiul Islam- caterpillar going to fly high-1 ♫!
  • Rubel Hossain-caterpillar going to fly high-2 ♫!
  • Nazmul Hossain-caterpillar going to fly high-3 ♫!

But I was willing to watch Shabbir Rahman. and I want him to be replaced by any sudden injured player during the WC.

we don't have any surprise...the biggest surprise is prolly shuvo, but it remains to be seen what impact he will have. SN could a surprise since he hasn't done anything of note since the AUS century (asides from that good knock against NZ).

but our real "biggest surprise" will prolly be our spin attack and the strangulation job they will put on most if not all teams on our pitches. i think all teams excluding India are in for a nasty surprise. even India may find the going tougher than ever before.

The biggest surprise TO THE OPPOSITIONS would be watching us ending up with adding 50 odd runs in the final 10 overs to take our score from 190 to 240 in between 40-50 overs.

the biggest surprise is coming .......

Our surprise element would be our consistency.

Habib has said IT. The Siddons mantra is you don't need surprise to win. Much like the Dallas Cowboys of yore, who used to say, "we'll win by running Emmit Smith down your throats, and did so", we are saying "we'll bowl tight, by firing low darts on your legs and then chase it down or keep you from attaining our middling totals"

Our surprise will be Mushfiqur Rahim, this guy has not performed as much as he can, but this world cup I think he could show it all!

That can only happen if he's given the opportunity to play in No.4, which is not gonna happen due to the fact that Siddons will be choosing Raqibul over Mushfiq for No.4!

It does not matter, Mushfiq is aggressive, I would not mind if he plays after Naeem. With Imrul, Junayed, nafees, Shakib, we do not have to worry about a long innings..... Mushfiq can play ball to ball and take quick runs after 30 overs when runs come slow

Bhaijan.. ami ei kotha ta goto 14 days dhorei boley aschi.. public amakey kilani gutani kom dey nai. 2007, no team had the video footage of Shakib, Tamim, Mushfique.. now they do. The biggest surprise this time was going to be Sabbir or Alok who were the specialist T20 players and could've done some damage in 5 overs requireing 60 runs or influenced leg bowlings.. All our remaining players are pretty much well analyzed, identified and will be worked out by India, SA, England with their expert statisticians, analysts and game strategists.

Imrul/Junaed/Raqibul/Mushfique will play their regular game when they survive and wont show anything out of the ordinary. Shakib with his calm poised intelli-batting and Tamim with his power-shots are what we are betting on the most...Without any surprise package,, the X factor is now lies in Ashraful yet again if he is playing and able to execute his unpredictable game or Mahmudullah Riad with his all-round capability. I am hoping this is the time Riad will come out of his shell and show the world what he is made of.. 2011/2012 could be the year of Riad, if he can really work his leg spin and continue his purple patch from Abahani matches !!
