^I was slightly disappointed too. But even at his comeback series and being not fully fit, he was still the best bowler in all the matches he played. that being said, he needs to go back to his regular pace. I am confident he will because a bowler who used to bowl at 135-140 can't drop pace within a span of few months. He is still recovering and once fully fit should be able to go back to 140.

It might just be that he is intentionally bowling slower than his usual pace because he was told to do so or he is going easy on himself till he recovers fully. Still the best bowler in all the matches he played. Would've picked up more wickets if NZ batsman didn't see him off majority of times.

In the 1st ODI his top pace that I saw was 127 or 128.

In the 3rd ODI his top pace was 135.

He will be back to his low 140s pace soon, if not already there inshallah.

If they want to prevent him from playing in IPL, then they should compensate him accordingly, like paying him upto 80% of his IPL salary as "non-participation" fee. It's as simple as that.

I disagree. His first and foremost duty is to play for his country. BCB has invested on him, giving him monthly salary and insurance of any medical assistance. He is only being allowed to play outside just to gather confidence and experience so that he can use it while playing for his country. But if he is under threat of injury he should not be allowed to play. The money he gets from leagues are bonus and comes all after that. However, there is always the other options for the cricketers. Be a freelancer and travel and play for different leagues. There is no commitments with any board.
It is a different issue if a player like him is getting enough in return from his board or not. To counter the logic.. he was injured after the IPL/England T20 league. He should also compensate to the board as well..

We ll find that out shortly-just before the tournament. IPL has messed with players heads in the past. Hope that doesnt happen with Fizz.

I wouldnt worry about his pace. It was a long lay off, didnt play any warm up or practice games, still not 100%, and this supposed side strain is also there.

I think the BCB will compensate him. Papon has alreayd stated that Fizz will be held out of IPL. giving him 75-80% of his season salary seems fair.

There is a definite drop of pace in his bowling. He rarely hits 140 now. Did not even hit once in 2nd test? While he is economical but we need him to strike. Swing was never his strength so he needs to bowl 140+ mixing up with slower deliveries. If he bowls 130kph then he wont be effective. We need more from him.

Highest I saw was 134 I think yesterday. Yah, if he doesn't get it above 140 he won't deceive many. Going to look more closely at his pace today

What was impressive from Fizz after lunch was that he maintained a certain line continuously thus bringing him 3 wickets

130 is fast enough if you are smart and accurate. Mustafiz works batsmen out. He finds their weakness and then locks onto that.

Vaas, Kapil, Pollock made careers with the same pace.

I still feel he is slowling getting match fit. He is very much bowling within himself His speed in the 20th over is still 130 just like first over. That means he's not tiring.

Now if he was maxing 135 and then drops to 120 in the 2nd innings...you'd need to worry.

He looks really good. He's bowled 40 overs in this Test, coming back from bowling 35 overs in the previous.

Speed has been consistent throughout 130 range, in the his 1st spell today it was around 135 & he's accurate, he gets the ball to move.

I would rest him for the 1st 2 ODI's. Manage his workload.

I completely agree. One of the main reason for that is Roy has played several seasons of first class cricket. Even though our first class conditions are no where near Tests, but it still allows someone to figure out his game, how to stay in the field for multiple days, bowl long spells in barren conditions, bowl three/four spells in a day. Taskin didn't get a chance to have that experience and it definitely showed.

Why would anyone disagree with u. He's been fantastic in this series and really troubled the Lankan openers.

Taskin is an overrated trash without a functioning brain who just bowls short. Glad that he's dropped.

I hope somebody close to Fiz listened today's commentary from Dean Jones. If he can learn to swing the new ball back to the right handers and reaches his pre-surgery speed, he would be extremely effective... I am praying that somebody having his ear also understands this and convinces him to work on these two areas... He has the potential to be an all-time great in Test.

He did far better than Taskin. Anyone who watched him bowl in the two tests will agree. As of now, he should be preferred over Taskin for a Test spot.

Roy has definitely impressed and done his job even though he has no wickets to show for it, Roy has decent pace and Control and more importantly can swing the odd one to confuse batsmen. I see Roy as a longterm solution .
Roy + Fizz +Mohammad Shohid should be our three pace attack with Taskin, Shafiul Rubel as backup!
