what's the point of blaming bcci? look at our own board. they are not willing to help out the lesser nations (ireland/afghanistan/etc) and we expect a better treatment from the power house? one should become a saint first before pointing at others ...

True but IRE and AFG are not Test nations. BD and IND are.

Plus don't forget we've given lots of exposure to IRE and especially AFG cricketers in our domestic tour aments. Lot more than IPL has to us.

The global game may soon start to look more like American Football or Baseball and not like Soccer/Football. Cricket as a global competition will disappear - there will be rare (if any) inter-country tours and competitions and a few inra-country leagues but there will be just one dominant league - the IPL.

This will be an Indian World Series just like Baseball has its World Series with mercenary refugee players from other nations will find cash and coverage but that pool too might die out.

Baseball today would be like the first version of the evolution of cricket. Yes, Baseball is till played around the world and there are strong leagues such as in Japan, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Panama etc. With the exception of in Japan, most players from other nations want to end up in the MLB.

American football represents the other extreme. Virtually dominant in one country and with its own players (yes, we have a few Samoans and assorted Canadians). That may be Cricket''s future as the BCCI wields it powers.
Looks like my worst fears are coming true. Cricket is dying as a global sport.

Yes I agree.. it will soon become regional sports.

See the brighter side, it will free up our time to enjoy other sports, which are desperately trying to get our attention.

As long as Ashes are around and India have their IPL, cricket will try to be branded as an international sport. Don't forget England and India have some of the biggest media (BBC as an example), so yes, might be regional, but if for 4 freaking decades cricket's world cup contenders haven't increased beyond 8-9 teams, then it's already only a regional sport. It's the media that try to present it as a global sport, and will continue to do so.
Evverything will be fine.

Z bhai has nailed it. If BCCI with its two chamchas keep going on the direction they have been for the last 10 years or so, cricket will get MLBized. As someone who grew up with cricket and has an emotional connection to it, I'm mighty bummed but like the lone mosquito in the moshari, all I can do is gorge myself until crushed.

It's foolish to look for a friend in BCCI or any board for that matter. Everyone for friends of benefit, if you dont know how to extract benefits, don't make friendships...to get exploited pretty one sidedly...

Just like Awami league's friendship with India
