did anyone ever try out the survey sites that pay you for taking surveys.

They even pay you for referral (referring friends). On the first look this looks nothing but scam (and spam) but I guess surveys are a bit different. I took part in some of these surveys in univ and they gave out $10 coffee vouchers to $25 dollar GAP coupons...

'get 50 friends to signup and you win an ipod' are all crap, but my question is did anyone try out the Online surveys? its somewhat believable as company's always have funds for surveys and promotions.....

University surveys are different, coz they have individuals who you sign up with, and youtake the survey in front of them and are guaranteed to get paid for it. Online surveys are complete rubbish, and they'll say a lot of things before you actually try, and then they'll show their "hidden" policy. In almost all of the cases, they'll have you become a member of some site, or something of that sort. Never fall for them, since giving away your credit card number in order to become a member is what they want from you, nothing else.

Don't think that they are all Scams. My friend took a 7 day DVD rental from some website, possibly freeipod.com and 3 months later he got a 30GB IPOD !!!! Nope, I ain't lying!

Btw, I do get a lot of Nectar points per TNS survey - approx. £2. If a survey takes over 5 mins. , I stop.

Hmmm, possible may be. I would give some credibility to the ones on authoritative web sites. Airmiles sometimes has these, and so does HBC and Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadian companies). So you have to use your best judgment.

Regardless of what it is, paying for being able to qualify for a gift in a study should give you the indication that there's something wrong there.

Recently Sydney renamed himself to Rabz. Today he raised concerns as to whether he needs to do akika before everyone starts accepting him as Rabz.

My question: When we change our names (that is, if we do), do we need to do an akika? Is it required in Islam?

Congrats K, and if I may humbly suggest something: just do it for your kid and for the sake of our traditions and culture bro, and since Swandeep is a part of greater Chittagong now instead of greater Noakhali the way it was, I expect nothing less than the mezbani dawat heavier than all the gold your baby's going to get ...

Hahaha, Sohel bhai. Unfortunately, can't make you a chacha yet. But yes, Inshallah when that happens, you'll get a 100% Chatgaiya style mezbani from a 100% khati Chatgaiya guy.

Actually, the word is "Mejjan". "Mezban" is the Bangla bastardization.

I have a stupid question. I am filling DV-2007 Form and I am kinda confused on one question. It says on number 14 enter the number of children and then also says
Quote:
Children include all biological children, legally adopted children, and stepchildren who are unmarried and under the age of 21 on the date that you submit your entry. Failure to include all children or inclusion of children who are not your biological children, legally adopted children, and stepchildren (regardless of whether they live with you and/or intend to apply for a visa as your derivative) is grounds for disqualification of the entire entry.

Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) and American Citizens should not be included.
My daughter is an US Citizen so should i enter 0 here or what? Please help...

In such cases, I would rather ask someone from the department. I don't know who would that be for DV-2007.

Indamissibility due to misrepresentation is a big issue. However, if you do state that you have a daughter, and by SOME means mention that she's a citizen, you're not falling under the misrepresentation case.

So you think its better to declare about my daughter. Cause I can mention her country of birth and stuff when i will fill her page. But it clearly says not to file for us citizen... this is stupid...

The page was not prepared for cases such as yours. The general people who file this form don't have children under 21 who are citizens. You must declare your daughter.

If there's a space for you to mention that, I would certainly go ahead with it.

Again, what you're saving yourself from is the case of "misrepresentation", such as holding back information about your daughter even though you have a daughter. On your side it may be due to something as simple as being confused with the application form. But to the IO, it's very important, and s/he could easily (excuse my language) screw you over for omitting such info.

T_E bhai's explanation sounds very reasonable.
