After 2 recommendation on this thread.. i decided to log into my netflix after 6 months and decided to give it a try last week. I enjoyed maybe first 3 to 4 episodes then it started feeling a lot like Indian dramas with poor plot or plot that do not make sense...

But while searching for something to watch.. this is what I found. Very good plot. And I got hooked. After a long time i felt like watching one episode after the other...

Money Heist.

It's originally a spanish drama series but it has english dub at netflix. It takes an episode to get used to the non lip matching.. but then it can be easily ignored.

Try it if anyone is looking for a new series.

Finisbhed the first part... So i thoought i shaare

During my world cup visit in russia.. all these anti argentinian fans use to chant a song about argentia with "oh dimaria oh macherano oh messi ciao messi ciao ciao ciao". From watching this money heist...I came to learn.... this song actually came from "bella ciao" an italian song on anti-fascist resistence.

Great song.. and great mock by the fans... the more u learn.

Give the series a try and let me know what u guys think.. in spanish it is titled la casa de papel

I started watching The Godfather last nite. I was so into it. Started it on Netflix after midnight though, so I paused it and went to sleep in the 2/3 stretch of the movie.

Great acting.
Not all movies are about special effects unless u love action/scifi...

I would recommend you watch La la land (no CGI/3D, just a good story)... trust me it is awesome..

I understand where you are coming. But I still yearn for a 90s style flick ever so often (crappy music, real explosions, MacGyver like )

I will have to check out that movie. Heard Gosling had to learn to play the piano for that movie

I recommend Molly's Game. No CGI at all and a pretty good movie

Mile 22 was okay. My review from the comment section here.

Quote:
It's a nuanced product from your typical spy thriller genre. In an age where pretty much Hollywood can show everything about everything and whatever is humanly imaginable and 'sci-techly' possible it is a slow buildup with subdued actions from a surprisingly restrained Iko Wais. I mean the trailer pretty much gave away all the action scenes contained.

I love the touch of childhood curiosity of Silva loving puzzle contrasted with Noor's having a childlike attachment to a meditation tool! I mean here we have two super spies pitted against each other who are both superintelligent child prodigies on their own accord if not highly lethal in the arts and arena of combat arts... and we see a softer style of a bipolar and borderline schizo Wahlberg's playing tet-a-tet chess with Iko Uwis's living boddhisattva who is not least bit amused in car when all hell broke loose in a street-turned-warzone. Not only this the entire movie is sort of a sketch - a snapshot of an op- albeit with a heavy dosage of Hollywood action apropos, but also highlights character dynamics.

Of course, the subtle touch of sketching the friendship between the characters - even though each are all cold, calculative assassins and even minor characters having their fair share of becoming ubermensch for 15 seconds (as well as the child saving scene) - highlights that this is bit of an avante garde deviation from your typical Hollywood action thriller, but a total letdown if you gon' compare it with juggernaut blockbuster like Fallout -which I have yet to watch, let alone Equalizer- as people will inevitably pay their hard-earned to get rewarded for most bang..no pun for their buck.

Two other highlights was the opening credit scene which itself compacts a whole movie scheme as well as the brutal, cold calculative QB-like coordination from Malcovich who is not-the-least bit slow to quickly improvise and react when not waxing odes as backdrop to murderous orchestra like god playing chess with apparently invisibile lives from above. (Albeit Jason Bournesque.)
I am curious if Equalizer 2 is worth it. That's like 'my' kinda movie. MI: Fallout is too mainstream for me. And of course waiting for Upgrade with Logan Marshall - my newest man crush.

I was not sold from the trailer. Loved the techno beat in trailer. That's about it. LOL damn these comic book nerds...

I was completely wrong and wayyy off. I admit it. My umbrage was media tryna shove down Wonder Woman which I couldn't stand for the first 10 minutes.

Modern day masterpiece. Every frikkin frame, every frikkin scene with every frikkin pixel is a masterpiece. The amount of detail...

I watched 5 movies this year in theater. Tastewise I rank them such:

1. Den of Thieves
2. Equalizer
3. Mile 22
4. Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 was all over the place. The action scenes were no where near the good as first one. First one is crisp, clear and to the point.

Also just cuz you are making a meta-movie doesn't mean anything goes. Constraint is important.

Mile 22: acquired taste. I wanna watch it again.

As is Equalizer. My typical favorite vigilante film. Problem was just like first one they dragged it out at the end.

As for Black Panther, it is on a category on its own right.

What are some good vigilante films? LOL

Watching Death Wish. I know it got - how the hell can I talk without cussin'? - s***y reviews but it DOES raise some good philosophical questions.

Do you take justice on your own hands or let karma do the talking?

The original Predator movie is a cult classic! Also, the Avengers Infinity War has become the 4th highest grossing movie of all time. They couldn't beat Force Awakens.

My brother in law said Equaliser 2 was really good.

One was decent.

I used to remember they used to show the series on BTV

Wow! Didn't know that. They are both good imo. I think 2 is better. But stretched a bit as usual in both.

The movie and tv shows really dont have much in common. William Zabka (Jhonny the main nemesis of Karate Kid) plays the Equaliser's son in the tv show.
