Default Banglacricket access problem during match time

I couldn't visit banglacricket or the forums for a single time during the match. Only during the breaks and after match, banglacricket was accessible. But in past there wasn't such problem during match time. From the length of match thread, I don't think forum traffic was too high to bring the site down.

Apart from a short time (<5 min), the site was running pretty good for me during the 1st ODI. Don't know what caused you problem or anyone else noticed it.

U-19 time, there were some problems. But last night should have been better, I know for sure, the server did not crash.

I didn't get any error message. When I tried to browse during the match, there was no data transfer (the kind of problem we see when a site has too much traffic). But during the innings break, mid-game break the site was accessible.

"Connection timed out when attempting to connect to banglacricket.com" - from Firefox. No problems accessing other websites, i.e. my modem/router/connection was not down.

yup... had trouble with the site during the 1st ODI against SL and also during the U-19 World Cup.

Wasn't it simply because of an overload of users posting messages at the same time ? But I believed all along that BC server is healthy enough to take such an amount of love from the users!

Yes, I had the same problem during the first match as well as U 19 match, even before than as far I can remember. It also happened couple of time during the second match too, though for a short time. Seems it's happening more often than couple of months ago.

Sometime it's take 5 to 10 min to get back the connection, and feel pretty bad when it's happen in the middle of exciting moment of the game. So many time I lost connection at the dying moment of those match we WON! I wasn't able to follow that famous last over against AUS because of lost connection, and that was indeed very frustrating.:embaressed:

Anyway, I appreciate our staff, mods and owners endless effort on Banglacricket, just wanted to share my experience as information thinking if it helps to find the problem behind this. Thank's for your great job all the time.

We are trying many things and exploring other options to overcome the match time server slowness. Please hang in there, evenually we will solve this.

We will do some changes today, hoping for better server performence at match time. Please post here you experience as that will help us understand how effective the changes were.

what if avater and sigs are disabled in match threads?
that would save a lot of space
although i dont like the idea, you can turn off smilies also.

Pretty smart idea as a temporary solution. It's for sure that it take some banwidth to show those avater and other graphics. If it is possible at all, BC can just post a notice that all graphics would be disabled in match threads. That is, match threads should be written on simple text.

Perhasp a user preference optin may help. User should be able to dis-select formatted view and just can see the text view.

If you can not access the site during game time (I never can), come to chat room via MIRC client

server irc.cricket.org
room : banglacricket

this will atleast reduce the number of refresh ppl are hitting... causing this cheap server to go down

Wihtout acess to this board, you may feel lonely following the game all by yourself - so I will be there in the chat room for you all day... you can talk to me
