Default Shakib can become the 1st cricketer in History....

Shakib's run in odi atm is 3340 and his wicket tally is 150..he becomes the 17th player to score 3000 runs and take 150 wickets..he has played 119 odi matches..to get to 5000 runs and 250 wickets he needs another 1660 runs and 100 wickets...if he can get this remaining runs and wickets in 80 matches..that is 199 match in total,he'll become the 1st and this far the only cricketer in history to achieve this feat under 200 matches...as of now only four players in odi history has achived the double of 5000 runs and 250 wickets. they are..

Jack Kallis
Sanath Jaysuria
Sahid Afridi
Abdul Razzaq

Abdul Razzaq is the fasted man to achieve this feat..he did this in 258 matches...shakib with 119 matches under his belt still has 138 matches for him to break Razzaq's record as the fastest man to achieve this..So looking at this Shakib most probably will brake razzaq's record and he'll most probably become the 1st cricketer to achieve this feat under 250 matches

Question is can he do this under the 200 mark?...what an amazing achievement that will be for a Bangladeshi...lets pray for shakib so that he can break this record and put his name in the legends

I hope he does it, and hopefully he'll do it with the vast majority of his wickets coming against teams other than Zimbabwe.

I don't say this to diminish his accomplishments or deride him, but so that, no one can question the legitimacy of his record(should he get there).

He will make the #runs milestone, it's the #wickets milestone that might be a bit of a challenge (i.e. for the 199 matches mark).

80 matches thats about 4.5 years for BD i guess...138 matches that will take 6.5/7 years...shakib will be 30/31 years old by then...in other countries players flourish in the early 30s..but ours fade away...shakib though is a different breed..i hope he doesnt be like other BD players..

If Shak continues like this, 100 wickets in 80 matches will be just a matter of time for him. Can any body tell how many wickets Shak got in his last 80 matches? That will give us a much better picture, as at the beginning of his career he was just a part-timer who hardly used to finish even half of his quota.

No, we don't play 138 matches in 7 years, we'll play around 110 according to the FTP.

In his last 80 games, he has taken 114 wickets at an average of 27.03 as opposed to his career average of 28.85, although his economy is 4.34 in his last 80 matches, 0.04 more than career economy.

^^ Thanks BG and Adnan bro, that shows if something very unusual doesn't happen this is very much achievable by Shak.

Shakib is different, he first of all averages 30+ in both formats, something only which Mahmudullah and him do. He is world class, and was Bangladesh's only player to play more than 1 IPL match. He also has stats to match the best not just in comparison to BD. By 24, most of BD's players get sussed out, but not Shakib, he's still going strong. Look at Razzak or Tamim and how they have been sussed out already.

That's an insult to Shak bro, you don't compare him with our other bunch of sisies, yeah anything may happen in the future but there are things which you can presume.

FTP is just a road map. We have played many more than the FTP had in our past 7 years. The current FTP has lots of holes where we can arrange games. I am sure they will with Zim.

i hope so Razi vai...i remember razzak when he was 25...he used to be our most economical bowler, scoring of him was very difficult..he even was selected in the IPL because of this...but look at him now..Only exception in this case is our Rafiq vai who with age became more cunning..i hope Shakib becomes that too

The issue is not FTP, not years, not wickets, not runs. Those will be there for him. The issue is can he remain healthy. With IPL, and leagues as such that is a big concern of mine.

I know akhi, I stated that in another post. The FTP basically gives a general gist of how much a team will play, and also reflects their rankings

For example, in April (or may) we're playing Sri Lanka in 5 ODI's which is additional and was added later to the FTP.

Shakib has been off form (for him) the last few matches. If he returns to his usual self, it not impossible.

Go sit in a corner and think about what you have just said....

This series Shakib averaged 79 with the bat at a Strike rate of 117...
With the ball he took 6 wickets @ 16 a piece at an economy of 3.84...

This wouldn't be out of form for someone like Watson, or any player in world in fact.
Out of form? No, it's just another day in the office for Shakib Al Hasan.

IDK if he can pick up 100 wickets. But I can see him score 1660 easily. That's about 21 runs per game. I only say this because batsmen are more aware of his bowling now (specially when Shamim consistently talks about Shakib's arm ball every time he comes onto bowl, not that anyone pays any attention to him), and he may not be able to pick up wickets at the same rate. He gets about 1.27 wickets/games, which will give him 100 wickets in 80 matches. But can he keep up? How many home series do we have? How many series v Spin_N00Bs?

(With his current form, my assumption could be a huge fail. He might get those 100 wickets easily but not get up to 5000 runs ...)

And I didn't know Razzak was that good of an ALR. Damn.
