Default 25 overs= 80 runs..!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(

I can't believe it....JO played a lazy game today. looked like he is playing test.

Such a stupid player. he played exactly 150 balls which is half of the innigs. 25 overs.

Why can't u play like this in the test matches

I was praying today, " Allah Please Make JO out before 30 over" He is the one, for whom Bangladesh didn't get a competative score.

I don't like him playing oneday games. whats the point playing 25 overs for 80 runs by one player...!!!!

What about the rest of the team..what they gonna do with the rest of the 25 overs.

This is stupid. Really a nonsense game. U acn't be a player if u can't get singles. as simple as that.

umm why do you say that. If he wasnt there then BD would have been all out for 130 or something like that. Think of the Positives man.

Yes.

Because it shows failure as plain simple failure, so the team works harder to improve.

This kind of 208/7 and "honorable defeat" can only help to push back our standards

That’s the real dilemma. On one side you cannot ignore the fact that we don’t have an alternative player who can be as dependable as JO. Most likely his 81 saved us from another disaster.

On the other hand, I cannot really appreciate his innings the way I am supposed to appreciate. Actually by the time we crossed 20+ overs (can’t remember exactly when), the darker side of my mind was hopping for JO’s dismissal which is weird.

We would be in a "make it or break it" situation. I guess we could score 250 in every 1/3 matches (in batting friendly conditions), and below 200 twice in every 3-4 matches.

A good player is able to take a single from even a good ball. The problem with JO is that he struggles to play the spinners. England had a defensive fielding set for Ashley Giles. They had a long off and a long on; no short mid off and short mid on. This means singles were there to be taken but he was consistantly hitting the ball in square leg even though he was trying to place the ball through mid wicket. That was indicative of the fact that he's a good player of spin. With all due respect to Giles he isn't anywhere near the quality left arm spinners like vettori or Raffique so the fact that JO struggled against him further justifies my point. To me his 81 did save us but any other batsman would have simply score much more runs. Even after he was settle he kept on missing the ball. I have always believed that JO is less than an average player who doesn't possess much skills but because of his tenacity is able to stay in the crease.

"Ishtylish",
Here is the stat from Cricinfo on the 3 spinner you are talking about.

Ashley Giles:
Mat O R W BB1 BB2 Ave Econ
57 438 1893 53 5/57 3/18 35.71 4.32

DL Vettori:
Mat O R W BB1 BB2 Ave Econ
150 1120.5 4793 139 5/30 4/14 34.48 4.27

Mohammad Rafique:
Mat O R W BB1 BB2 Ave Econ
78 647.2 3002 68 4/33 4/63 44.14 4.63

To me it looks like JO faced one the current best left hand spinner.
We all know JO has limited skills and he always plays within his limitations (that's enables him to stay at the wicket). JO was not supposed to play the ODIs but we had no choice but play his since no one else seemed to be able to stay at the wicket. We all would have liked him to play more shots and take even more singles, but he couldn't. All these are not new to us but still there are a lot of posts on how bad he plays. What do we want, really? An overnight transformation?

Yea very few BD players are capable of surviving 25 overs.

On the other hand there is basically no international player capable of surviving 46 overs and not scoring a century.

JO is unique one way or another.

when BD players panic and loose 5 wickets in 20 runs sometimes, we need somebody like JO who can hang in there. so yes, he is unique and will be needed in the team until we get rid of somwhat panicking mode. its been seen too often

all teams collapse dude. thats okay. but i think no test playing team would score 208/7 playing out all of 50 overs. thats just impossible. i dont see it happening. i'd rather take those collapses over this. we lose either way, but this is WAY more painful.

too me, 200+ (250 even better) with 50 overs is much better than 139 all out and become a laughing stock of the commentators. if other top and middle order players are producing runs consistently, then you can blame JO for slowing things down, but they are not. our captain is not scoring consistently

i am surprised about this argument that without javed Bd would have got all out in 150 the way they did against australia. the thing against aus is a one off, it doesnt happen always. besides symonds is quite an effective bowler. he could have dismissed javed very easily as well.

if anyone plays the anchor, it should be aftab. quick between wickets and can easily milk singles without depending on big strokes. aftab should be sent in 3. JO is a restriced batsman, i am not blaming him, but he should be in first 15-20 overs and after that he should go, thats it.
