Khandaker earned a MS in Computer Science & Engineering and a BS in Engineering (Electrical & Electronics). As a member of the faculty in the Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department, Khandaker taught courses in Computer Science & Electronics at the Islamic University of Technology.

That was pretty early in his career, he built the network infrastructure of BAT Bangladesh before leaving for America. At that time BAT was the only company which matched with his field of expertise.
BTW, he is a non smoker.
