How to get rid of addiction?
In general. More specifically, smoking. And Rifat please don't say: "Just inhale oxygen."

I stopped smoking I became lazy.
So I started to smoke again. Now I am a workaholic. Smoking makes me think faster and better.

Having a good core group of friends(righteous company) is the key! Consistently staying busy with tasks such as schoolwork, chores around the house should help.

Dude, I got no friends outside BC. Also, it's not I smoke socially, and replace smoking with schoolwork?
Chores sound good. I hardly exercise, believe it or not. Sometimes I do feel energized when exercise but the hardest part is setting in motion from rest. Inertia.

Just calculate how much you spend on cigarettes. Every week and every month. Now see what you can do with that money. Buy a new laptop, camera, or any other hobby you have.
If you love your money, you will quit smoking. If you love your health, you will quit smoking

"Every cigarette a man smokes reduces his life by 11 minutes. Each carton of cigarettes thus represents a day and a half of lost life. Every year a man smokes a pack a day, he shortens his life by almost 2 months." [University of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter, April 2000]
Is smoking really worth it?

I smoked for many years, but managed to give it up for good almost 20 years ago. It helps to have a cheerleader (in my case, my dear wife) and taking up another habit (tennis in my case).

I hear smoking cig is the hardest addiction to get rid of compared to even Coke or Heroine... and Marijuana is not really addictive...
The idea is to let your 7-8 year old smoke once..... they will be so disgusted with the taste that they will never try another again..
Or if you are already a smoker
Try the nicorette gum, it worked for one of my friend, everytime he felt like smoking, he chewed that gum instead...

My grandad (my dad's dad) smoked cigarette till he died age about 90. I wonder how many cartons he smoked in his lifetime and how long he would have lived ?
Oh I forgot to mention about my other grandad (mum's dad) he was smoker also. He has given up. He is still alive 101 not out. Alhamdulillah

^^ But you can't live happily if you smoke a lot. In the end, the suffering is too much.

Do what makes you happy. That how look at it. If you are struggling financially or physically because of your addiction then you are not happy..

yeah, I am only speaking form my limited, rather narrow perspective. Why don't you do one thing? Join a Cricket Club...You will make friends inshaAllah! it is good exercise, and based on the amount of time all of us spent here, there is absolutely no doubt that you have a very good understanding of how the game is played. Being part of a cricket organization can only help you physically, it will keep you busy + plus you will sleep at night.
go bowling once in a while!
If you do happen to attend a university/college, there should be plenty of clubs that spark your interest? no?
Join a debate team/philosophy club if you are not into athletics...that's how you will make friends You are a pretty smart guy! I don't think you will have trouble making friends....

how to stop addiction? just stop doing it. if u smoke then set goal of not smoking for 3 days, when u get past it then set goal for 7 days. if u can control yourself for 7 days then u can control it for rest of ur life.
