Follow-up visit by Mahnama to evaluate probable future Test Venus in BD
Roshan Mahnama is going to visit Bangladesh in mid January to re-evaluate some proposed Test Cricket Venues for ICC recognition. Previously, Clive Lloyed had visited these venues and made some recommendations regarding their upgrading to international standard. Mahnama will inspect if the proposed upgrading have been achieved in those stadiums or not. The venues include:
Mirpur, Fatualla(Narayanganj), Ctg Divisional, Khulna Divisional, Bogra stadiums.

Does anyone remember the issues relating to certification for each venue.
AFAIK -
Fatualla - transport issues from Dhaka, training facilities
Bogra - hotels of international standard
What about the others?

Did BCB worked on those recommendations made by Lloyed?
"Fatualla - transport issues from Dhaka, training facilities"
"Bogra - hotels of international standard"
I have pretty much doubt on those two.

CTG Divisional and Mirpur still need to build media centers, I believe. I think Mahanama is coming too early, work orders are not even issued for some of the projects. Most probably BCB will have to ask him to come again after a month or two.

We need better fields for our domestic leagues. Does anybody know if our domestic teams will be able to play in these new fields.

AFAIK... Bogra has build a pretty nice guest-house/hotel of good standard just for the Cricket venue and CTG Stadium has improved its media facilities as required. I remember seeing TV reports on those two.
And Mirpur's ground is supposed to be prepared already. Not sure about other facilities though... but I am hoping that it will get recognition too.
And the others... I haven't seen any report anywhere yet.

First of all we need our players to get used to with the pitch they will play . Our players don't even know how the pitch will be at Mirpur and they are starting a series against Srilanka in a month and half time . That's a shame for Bagladesh cricket for the poor facilities provided to our players .

Well, Amardesh reported yesterday that Mirpur's media facilities and dressing rooms are not yet ready. BCB is actually thinking about making an improvised/alternative pressbox for the upcoming SL series as they are afraid that the main pressbox won't be ready in time.
And yes, there will be few premier league matches on Mirpur at the end of this month to see how the pitches act.

i read in the newspaper that they opened a 4star hotel in bogura. tarek rahman was there in the grand opening. i dont think we will need 5/6 test venue. 3 tops 4 is good enough. because it takes alot of money to maintain those test venue. dhaka chitagong and the third one could be bogura. other then that we need to improve other stadium for domestic cricket like rajshahi khulna sylhet and barisal divisional stadium. they also should focus on building more facilities like bksp outside of dhaka.

Bogura got the satisfaction nod from Mahanama. So did the near by newly built hotel.
Next stop, Jan 17 Chittagong, then Khulna and after that Mirpur and Fatullah. Friday he will fly off. Mahanama update

What I read from newspapers, seems like Mirpur is out of question to be approved for SL or Aus series as dressing rooms, press box, and TV stands are still under construction. Can anyone tell us how the chances for Fatullah looks?

DS: No matches in Dhaka!
Quote:
"The National Sports Council, which is renovating the Mirpur Stadium, is expected to hand over the players' and officials' lounges to the board by February 15 but the press and the commentary boxes are yet to be finished. It would take at least two months to finish the works and our plan is to make temporary arrangements for the media people during the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka series," Mahbub said.
The Fatullah Stadium also does not have complete facility for print or electronic media and it seemed clear that the BCB officials, although they have Dhaka in mind for one Test match, are not crossing their fingers for a positive report from Mahanama, who has seen construction works pending.
Mahbub still hoped that they would get ICC's nod for two out of the three other venues outside the city -- divisional stadiums in Chittagong and Khulna and the Bogra Stadium -- that Mahanama has inspected.
Reportedly, Mahanama -- impressed by the facilities at Bogra -- has showed satisfaction over ground condition at Mirpur Stadium but he found the accommodation facilities in Khulna insufficient.
"We've got the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong being readied for Sri Lanka's tour. If we can not hold a Test in Dhaka we will shift it elsewhere. Still, our target is to get recognition for all the venues," Mahbub added.
It seems that the board's 'favourite' venue Bogra is all set to host the second Test.

Bogra has a good batting track. They should also host some ODIs.

Mis-management at its best. How many years before we knew Mahanama or someone from ICC would visit for inspection? I fail to understand why these stadiums (Mirpur and Fatullah) were not finished time. Cricket Bangladesh knew this for months. Yet lack luster attitude by the elite pannel prevailed. Still two months for Mirpur Stadium to be ready? Pa chata gula ki korey? ek Mash agey "Mirpur Tareq Stadium" nam diye dilay it wold have been finished by Jan 15. Bunch of unfits managing CB. Just because they have a plan B, so no reason to work for Plan A.
