yes, so far he has performed when the team has needed, that is a great characteristic to have, he takes hauls of wickets to which is also important as we need wicket takers.

Gazi's bowling was ineffective in the first inning. Looks like the kiwi batsmen have adjusted. Now Gazi needs to bring some new bag of tricks and vary his bowling differently.

he's pretty much the 2nd best bowler BD has ever produced, well not exactly but relatively, so far, in an irrelevant way that i'm about to explain.

shakib is on top with 113 wickets from 53 innings, average in the 32s, strike rate 68.

next is rafique with 100 wickets, 48 innings, average of 40, strike rate 87

then we have mash and shahadat. mash has 78 wickets from 51 innings, average in the 41s, strike rate over 76 while shahadat has 70 wickets from 56 innings, average almost 52, strike rate 74.

those are all of the hugely significant wicket takers that BD have produced.

the next group are enamul jr with 44 wickets from his 26 innings, average 40.61, strike rate 80.6 and tapash with 36 wickets from 29 innings, strike rate 93.7.

sohag is next on the list from just 15 innings where he's taken 34 wickets, average 35.32, strike rate 74.

so tapash took 2 more wickets but has bowled in 14 more innings than gazi so it's pretty obvious that gazi has performed better overall than tapash.

with enamul jr he has 10 more wickets but it's also from 10 more innings, given gazi's record to-date you'd expect him to get to 44 wickets quicker than enamul jr, at least based on wickets to innings ratio.

from here it gets tougher to compare because the rest have played a lot more than gazi but let's say gazi continues as he is currently going off his 15 innings to date. he's going to have 68 wickets from 30 innings, 2 wickets short of shahadat who took 70 wickets in 56 innings that would be a difference of 2 wickets but 26 innings

similar for mash. it would be 10 more wickets for mash but from 21 more innings.

to even up the innings a bit more let's say gazi continues on his current path all the way to 45 innings, he's going to have 102 wickets. that surpasses even rafique who took his 100 wickets from 48 innings.

i was bored...

No problem! Enjoyed reading that. Suffer from more boredom so we can discuss Bd cricket! lol. The way you get into the nitty gritty, you would be a great contributor guest on a Bd cricket radio show I want to produce.

Good to see he's coming good in ODIs as he provides some variation in our bowling attack. Now we have two very good SLAs and a very good offie. Need to find a leggie and we'll win the WC.

he has something special in him , I don't know what, but he is a match winner & it's great to have one like him.
According to Sir Aupee , Gazi is a batting alrounder.

The reason why I find Gazi so special is because he seems unfazed by the batsman. He owned Gayle and is now owning Kiwi batsman.

Not often do you see him bowling a short ball when someone like riad never fails to deliver his quota of one short ball in the over.

Great find by.Bangladesh. If he played.for some other countries he would have been rated as the next big thing.

A century, and a hattrick to boot in the same test.match is not easy.

Gazi's bowling skills was not a surprise before the series. But his batting really impressed me so far. Beside that 100, his knock in 2nd ODI was very important too. He doesn't slog and is capable of proper cricketing shots. Just needs a little bit more polishing and he can become a true bowling allrounder.

Gazi's batting is something to be seen, he won us the match against the West Indies in the final with his 3 boundaries with his daring upper cut on the bouncer and he did it today, the same bold upper cut on the bouncer to win the match

The difference between the young talents of now and some of the talents of past is:

Now the young talent doesn't need 25 games before start producing, now they start producing from the beginning..

Should give credit to McInnes, Saqlain, Salahuddin, and whoever else working with those young guys, to help them prepare for the international stage.

Yes these young talents are more prepared.

Also credit needs to be given to the head coach and new attitude of the selectors. This new head coach is more open to try new talents instead go cycles and the selectors no longer trying to bring back old players back with excuse "we don't have capable alternatives" and sending the wrong message to the players and players continue to make same mistakes again and again knowing that their position is safe regardless of their recent performance.

Just see how quickly they switched from Anamul to Shamsu or dropped Ryiad from Test. They were also very fair with Nayeem who deserved more chance. This doesn't mean its end of Anamul's career, but it gave Anamul a clear message what he needs to do to come back in the team again....the days of "Ashraul and his 9 lives" are over under this management.
