Default Bulbul, Pilot and Rafique become skill consultants for academy and age group teams

Aminul Islam, Khaled Mashud and Mohammed Rafique become skill consultants

The BCB Game Development Department has decided to engage former Bangladesh captains Aminul Islam, Khaled Mashud and the country's leading wicket-taker in Tests Mohammed Rafique as consultants for batting, wicket-keeping and spin bowling respectively.

"This is an effort on our part to make optimum use of local expertise in developing our future cricketers. Aminul, Mashud and Rafique have vast experience of playing cricket at the highest level and can pass on their knowledge to the next generation," said BCB Game Development Committee Chairman Shakil Kasem.

The three stalwarts of Bangladesh cricket will work with the cricketers of the GP-BCB National Cricket Academy, Bangladesh Under 19 Team and other age-group selections.

Nice to see the veterans of the game helping young players to improve their cricket.

Both Rafique and Mashud welcomed the move and said that it will make a big impact in the country's cricket.

"I am still enjoying playing cricket although I retired from international cricket. It is quite impossible for me to do a permanent job right at the moment but I am ready to help my country during the leisure time.

"I will gladly accept if the board asks me to work with the young guys in the break," said Rafique, who scalped 100 wickets in 33 Tests and claimed 125 wickets in 125 one-day internationals.

On the other hand, Mashud was excited with the decisions as he believed that it would ensure no wastage of cricketing knowledge.

"I think it's a fantastic idea to ensure maximum use of the cricketing knowledge for better interest of the game. When we started our career there weren't many cricketers who had the international experience but the situation is totally changed now.

"There are a number of cricketers who has gained international experience and you cannot waste their knowledge," said Mashud, who is yet to have officially retired from the international scene.

"As a cricketer nothing could have been better than to be involved with the game in any capacity. The board has spent large sums of money for me, so it would be bad if I am ultimately sitting idle. I also want to share my experience that I have gained during my long career," added Mashud, who played 44 Tests and 126 ODIs.

Another former national skipper turned operations manager of the academy Khaled Mahmud considered it as a new window for the ex-cricketers.

"I think this process will ultimately help us to be self sufficient in the future," said Mahmud
Nice to hear the ex-players are quite happy to share their knowledge.

Nice to know that our ex cricketers are getting involved with BCB. They would be very good at explaining what academy players should not do rather than what they should do because I think our ex cricketers did all the wrong things on the cricket field!

Good initiative.

BUT I DID NOT SEE THE YOUNG PLAYERS WITH ANY NOTE/WRITING PAD. THAT IS HOW YOU DEVELOP, AND EXECUTE, BY KEEPING THINGS IN SIGHT.

yeah it's kind of tough to plan and remember things all in your head. whether you're having these sort of discussions or whether you're watching footage of the opposition to pick out weaknesses you need to write it down so you can figure out the best plan of attack and go over it again and again.

Good move. We need ex-cricketers to be involved in every capacity of the game after their retirement. After all, one day, few among them will become selectors and administrators.

Very good move, their insight will be vital but we need a similar role for seniors

The Notion with BCB kicking out Rafique has been put to rest.

BCB needs to video these sessions. You reap benefit beyond the current display. The speakers have time to go back and fix mistakes. May be engage more friendly atmostphere where the boys can question and get some answers. Two way communication.

These are not teachers/coaches. They are facilitators.

Yup, videos are essential. Otherwise, 3 years down the road, when the next batch of pups visit SA, where are you going to find the speakers.

Khaled may be well on his way to jannat.

Sorry, bad joke.
