Can he deliver us an ACTUAL head coach who knows what he is doing rather than a novice Bowling Coach acting as a HC? Don't go gaga over Papon so soon. I have serious doubts about his cricketing knowledge.

Disappointed with Papon. Coming from a more professional background i thought he might be able to improve things.
Really lacks vision and strategic direction. Occupies office to fight for todays affairs, rather than build tomorrows. In comparison BFF president Kazi Salahuddin really wants to improve the game, has ideas. Unfortunately he lacks the funding or public interest to improve the game.

I am not a Papon fan. However at least he is being a bit proactive in trying to get series with BCCI. If, and its a sizeable if, he can get us the 8-10 or whatever additional Tests matches against India, England, and Australia, I will hail that as a success.
Remember, if we don't have any fixtures, we won't be needing a head coach.
Of course Papon is not the leader we need, but he's the leader we have for better or for worse.

Is he really any worse than the ppl we had before? If the previous BCB chiefs had the knowledge and motivation to improve our cricket team in the long term we would not have such a mediocre cricket team after all these years. We need major changes and planning if we ever want to be a world champion team in the future

There was a time when our Under 15, 17 teams had top quality Sri Lankan coaches. We had two cracking Under 19 coaches. We had a veteran head coach like Whatmore or the late Eddie Barlow. Even Siddons was an excellent appointment. Every now and then we had nation wide pacer hunts. We had three very good coaches in Siddons, Ian Pont and Julien Fountain. Bottom line there was activity which was aiding our development to some extent. From age group to national team we had the right personnel. I believe we also played a lot more A Team etc
All that has stalled now. All the Sri Lankan coaches are gone. We are being coached by an intern (Sorry Shane). The ex cricketers who have done so much of service are not being utilized. Under 19 team has been professional trainer less for the last 6-7 years. A team tours have dried up. No batting coach, now bowling coach. Nothing.
Bangladesh needs serious long term planning. Supposedly there will be a meeting at BCB soon for next 4 years. Will be interesting to see what they come up.
