Basically he said, "we have been on the bottom for the most part, but the moment we started rising, apparently ICC will reset the ranking after 2019 World Cup and everyone will start at ZERO." Big fat zero, yo.

He was saying though point wise we are way ahead of #7 and things can't basically go wrong. It will be tougher for others to catch up to us.

So we should shoot up, but the sour news being we will have to start from zero.

Guess in one way its good. Ranking doesn't matter. I mean really.. why should it? It doesn't tell complete story. Aus/England and then India all had head start. And it is not fair to play catch up after logging in the middle of the whole drama.

So how will everyone be ranked after the wc on the table when everyone has zero to their name? Winner ranked 1, runners up ranked 2 and so on and so forth?

Also teams like India/Eng/Aus will get more chances to get the ranking point going since they play more.

It won't matter really if rankings get reset , with time everyone will be put in place . We may have a chance to be in the top 5 in ODIs provided we keep beating most of the teams who tour us

Look at it this way, when the ranking is reset and we are the first to play a match under the new rankings if we win we can be the best ODI side in the world by just winning the first ODI Match under these revised rankings

According to the reset I wonder which countries are truly benefited and which ones are left short changed.

I can see it helps the likes of Afghanistan,West Indies and Sri Lanka while it gives Australia a good boost to catch up with arch rivals England and India.

These are the matches which Bangladesh will play starting from 2020 to qualify for the 2023 WC directly and will have a drastic effect on the rankings:

1. Away vs Ireland - 3 matches
2. Home vs Srilanka - 3 matches
3. Home vs Windies - 3 matches
4. Away vs New Zealand - 3 matches
5. Home vs Zimbabwe - 3 matches
6. Home vs England - 3 matches
7. Home vs Afghanistan - 3 matches
8. Away vs South Africa - 3 matches

Notable exclusions are series against PAK, IND & AUS. Two tough away series vs NZ & SA and one relatively moderate home series vs ENG. Overall, these 24 matches will decide our future of directly qualifying for the WC. Seems like something to be hopeful about.
