Default SAF Football in Bangladesh Dec 1st 2009

We won the bid. Nepal was our competitor after India (originally they were the host by rotation) backed out.

Salauddin promised to make this a World standard tournament.

8 teams are participating in this one.

I hope the matches are telecasted by a private channel.

Those visiting in BD in december have Football and Cricket to watch.

How can this be a world class tournament with players not even worthy of playing street soccer in Saudi Arabia?

This is a great chance for us to popularize foot-ball and go to the next level. We better start preparing and win the tournament. That would be the best thing to happen in our foot-ball.

I remember the last time time we hosted SAF foot-ball, we won that tournament. We beat India in Semi-final 2-1, with a Golden goal by Matiur Munna in front of packed Bangabandhu Stadium.
Oh!! what a match that was, and what a goal that was!!!

Dido sacked as head football coach

Dhaka, Nov 9 (bdnews24.com)-- Bangladesh Football Federation has sacked Brazilian Edson Silva Dido as the head coach of the national football team.

Dido has been replaced by Shahidur Rahman Shantoo, with Saiful Bari Tito being his deputy. Satyajit Das Rupu will helm the team as manager.

The BFF at an emergency meeting of the executive committee made the decision.

The team picked up by Dido has been dissolved as well and the training camp has been suspended.

National team management committee member Hasanuzzaman Bablu told bdnews24.com, "We sacked Dido in the national interest. He made a team excluding 6 to 7 key players. We failed to make him understand and finally executive committee took the decision."

The decision came just before SAF championship.

Chief of national team management committee Badal Roy told bdnews24.com, "We failed to change his (Dido) mind after several tries.

"We have been forced to accept his committee as he was claiming transparency in selection on Sunday. But our thinking is his selected team would not play better even in the first round of upcoming SAF championship.

"It's a B team. We sacked him in national interest."

Dido told bdnews24.com, "I heard that they fired me but I have not been formally informed."

Dido was signed for a year in January 31.

The excluded players are defender Rajani Kanta Berman, midfielder Arman Aziz, goalkeeper Biplob Bhattacharya, midfielders Zahed Parvez, Zahid Hossain, Mofazzel Hossain and Ariful Islam.

Eight footballers had boycotted training at the camp at BKSP in last July defying Dido. Later he preferred to leave them out of the national fold.

We are not professionals.

Those 8 are the problems plus Badal Roy.

this is one of the sad days for BD football. so now we will see players will select themselves and also coach themselves. kinda trade union! football did not bring anything good for last 10-15 years because of the poor mentality of players and officials, who are remain the same even after getting a person like Salahuddin as the head.

Rajani-Biplob gong are the winners and I can see them future MPs as Joy did.

I feel sorry for Dido, who may have problems but wanted good for the BD football. these players are so losers that they can say good things whenever a new coach come but when the coach starts making them match fit they start to bring their own face and most of the officials help the players to remain popular! I am not following these losers anymore.

6 out - named in Bangladesherkhela.
Current camp has 26. How many of these six were in Dido's boycot list?

thanks Dido for bringing the true face of BFF officials though they are ex footballers but they act like professional officials. Dido is right most of them have no life beside football officials .... I have been following Mohamedan since early 80's cannot remember what Bad.al Roy did in international level. This team has only two players who are not playing for Abahoni or Mohamedan. So to be in the national team players need to be in those two team first. BD footballers (most of ex and current) mean kind of a stupid people to me!
