বাসা আর হাসপাতাল ছোটাছুটি করে সময় কাটছে মাশরাফি বিন মর্তুজার। নবজাতক আগাগোড়াই সুস্থ আছে। স্ত্রীর সুস্থতা আর প্রথম সন্তানের আগমন কি মনের জ্বালা কিছুটা কমিয়েছে নাকি? নাহ, কমেনি। ২০১১ বিশ্বকাপ এমন এক কষ্ট, যা কোনো প্রাপ্তি দিয়েই আড়াল করতে পারছেন না মাশরাফি। কাল দুপুরে সেসবই কালের কণ্ঠ স্পোর্টসের বিশেষ প্রতিনিধি সাইদুজ্জামানকে
বলছিলেন তিনি।

প্রশ্ন : বাবা হয়েছেন সেদিনই। কেমন লাগছে সব কিছু?
মাশরাফি বিন মর্তুজা : সেভাবে উপভোগ করতে পারলাম কই? সন্তান জন্ম দিয়েই জীবন-মরণ লড়লেন আমার স্ত্রী। যাক, কাল কেবিনে দিয়েছে। বাচ্চাও ভালো আছে। আসলে চারদিকের এত টানাপড়েনে বাবা হওয়ার অনুভূতিটা সেভাবে টের পাইনি।
প্রশ্ন : ঘরের মাঠের বিশ্বকাপ কেমন দেখলেন?
মাশরাফি : চট্টগ্রামের ম্যাচ দুটো টিভিতে দেখেছি। বাকি ম্যাচগুলো মাঠে বসেই দেখেছি। মনের কষ্ট চেপে রেখে খেলা দেখেছি। যদি না পারতাম, তাহলে মেনে নিতে অসুবিধা হতো না। কিন্তু ফিজিও বলছেন আমি ফিট। একটা ম্যাচ খেললাম। নেটেও বল করলাম। কোথাও কোনো অসুবিধা হয়নি। তবু দলে জায়গা না পেয়ে কষ্ট হয়েছিল। এমনও মনে হয়েছিল আর মাঠে গিয়ে কী হবে? তবু গিয়েছি যেন কেউ মনে না করে অন্য কোনো চিন্তা থেকে আমি মাঠে আসছি না।
প্রশ্ন : স্ত্রীর সংকটাপন্ন অবস্থার সঙ্গে বিশ্বকাপ খেলতে না পারার দুঃখ মিলিয়েই কি মনের এ অবস্থা?
মাশরাফি : বলতে পারেন। আমি কেন, যেকোনো ফিট খেলোয়াড়ই গ্যালারিতে বসে বিশ্বকাপ দেখতে চাইবে না। আমিও চাইনি। স্বপ্ন ছিল ঘরের মাঠে নিজের তৃতীয় বিশ্বকাপ খেলব। যদি ফর্ম খারাপ থাকত, যদি সত্যি সত্যিই আনফিট থাকতাম, তাহলে মেনে নিতাম। কিন্তু দুটোই আমার পক্ষে থাকা সত্ত্বেও বিশ্বকাপ খেলতে পারলাম না। খুবই কষ্ট হয়েছে এবং হচ্ছেও। এ কষ্ট কোনোদিনও যাবে না। আমাকে যদি বিল গেটসের সব টাকা কিংবা বারাক ওবামার ক্ষমতাও দেওয়া হয়, তবু কষ্ট কমবে না। সব কিছুর বিনিময়ে আমি বিশ্বকাপ খেলতে চেয়েছিলাম।
প্রশ্ন : কি মনে হয়, কেন বিশ্বকাপের বাইরে থাকতে হলো?
মাশরাফি : চোট পাওয়ার পর অস্ট্রেলিয়া থেকে ফিরে জেমিই (সিডন্স) আমাকে ডেকে বলেছিলেন যে আমাকে তিনি ১৫ জনের স্কোয়াডে রাখবেন। তবে ৭ তারিখের (ফেব্রুয়ারি) মধ্যে ফিটনেস প্রমাণ করতে না পারলে আমাকে বাদ দিয়ে দেবেন। আমি আশাবাদী হয়ে ফিটনেস ফিরে পেতে প্রাণপণ চেষ্টা করেছি। কিন্তু বিশ্বকাপ স্কোয়াড ঘোষণার পর দেখি আমি দলে নেই! খুব খারাপ লেগেছিল। বুঝতে পারছি না, তাহলে কোচ কেন আগে আমাকে আশা দেখিয়েছিলেন!
প্রশ্ন : কোচের সন্দেহ যে ফিট না হয়েও আপনি নিজেকে ফিট ঘোষণা করেন।
মাশরাফি : এটা জেমি সিডন্সের মনের সমস্যা। বিশ্বকাপ কী আর ১০টা ম্যাচ যে আনফিট হয়েও মাঠে নেমে পড়ব? সব সম্ভাবনার বিপরীতে গিয়ে নিজেকে ফিট ঘোষণা করেছি ১৬ কোটি মানুষের প্রত্যাশার চাপ নিয়ে। জানতাম, মাঠে নেমে এদিক-ওদিক হলে ঝড় উঠবে। সব জেনেই ফিট ঘোষণা করেছিলাম। এটা কোনো ছেলেখেলা নয়। আর কোচ কেন, এক নির্বাচকও টিভিতে বলেছেন আমি নাকি আনফিট! ফিটনেস সার্টিফিকেট দেন ফিজিও। যাঁর পরামর্শে আমি ৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি প্রিমিয়ার লিগের ম্যাচ খেলেছিলাম।
প্রশ্ন : বাংলাদেশ দলের নৈপুণ্য কেমন দেখলেন?
মাশরাফি : ভালোয়-মন্দয়! তিনটা ম্যাচ জিতেছে। এর মধ্যে ইংল্যান্ডও আছে। আবার ৫৮ এবং ৭৮ রানের ইনিংসগুলো খারাপ হয়ে গেছে। হার-জিত হিসাব করলে খারাপ হয়নি। তবে হ্যাঁ, ওই দুটা ম্যাচ আমারও ভালো লাগেনি।
প্রশ্ন : বিশ্বকাপ ব্যর্থতার পর বাংলাদেশ দলের পরিকল্পনায় গলদ ছিল বলে মনে করছেন অনেকে। আপনার কি মনে হয়?
মাশরাফি : প্ল্যানিং যে ছিল না, তা না। সব দলই পরিকল্পনা করে মাঠে নামে। সেটা বাংলাদেশ দলেও ছিল। আমি নিজেও একজন ক্রিকেটার। তাই অন্য কোনো ক্রিকেটারের মনে কষ্ট দিতে চাই না। তবে একটা জিনিস বলব, জেমি সিডন্স আসার পর আমরা একটা তামিম ইকবাল পেয়েছি। আরো কয়েকজনের ব্যাটিংয়েও উন্নতি হয়েছে। কিন্তু পরিকল্পনা করার ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর গলদ আছে। বরং সাকিব-তামিম কিংবা আমি যখন ছিলাম, আমাদের কাছ থেকে জেমি প্ল্যানিং নিত। আমার মনে হয় না বিশ্বকাপে প্ল্যানিংয়ের ক্ষেত্রে কোচের কাছ থেকে সাকিব খুব বেশি সাহায্য পেয়েছে। এসব কারণেই হয়তো টিম কম্বিনেশনটা সঠিক হয়নি।
প্রশ্ন : টিম কম্বিনেশন প্রসঙ্গে বাংলাদেশ কোচের বিরুদ্ধে একটি ঢালাও অভিযোগ আছে যে, তিনি পক্ষপাতদুষ্ট। আপনি তো দীর্ঘ সময় তাঁকে কাছে থেকে দেখেছেন। আপনিও কি একমত?
মাশরাফি : অবশ্যই। যদি তা না হবেন, তাহলে তিনি বিশ্বকাপের আগেই আশরাফুল কিংবা আবীরকে (শাহরিয়ার নাফীস) কেন বলে দেবেন যে, তোমরা ব্যাক-আপ প্লেয়ার! কেউ কোনো দিন এভাবে বলে নাকি? তবে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই যে তিনি ভালো ব্যাটিং কোচ। তামিমের ব্যাটিংয়ে অনেক উন্নতি ঘটিয়েছেন জেমি। আরো কয়েকজনকে সাহায্য করেছেন। তবে ওই ব্যাপারটা ঠিক বলে বোঝানো যাবে না। সবাইকে তিনি সমান চোখে দেখেন না। সব কোচেরই পছন্দ-অপছন্দ থাকে। তবে সেটা এমন প্রকাশ্য হওয়াটা দলের জন্য ভালো নয়। অন্যরা হীনম্মন্যতায় ভোগে।
প্রশ্ন : আপনিও তো ডেভ হোয়াটমোরের স্নেহধন্য ছিলেন!
মাশরাফি : হ্যাঁ, ছিলাম। আরো এক-দুজনকে ডেভ একটু বেশি পছন্দ করতেন। তাই বলে বাকিদের হেনস্থা করতেন না তিনি। কাউকে ডেকে বলে দিতেন না যে অন্য কেউ খারাপ খেললে পরেই তুমি চান্স পাবে। আপনার নিশ্চয় মনে আছে আশরাফুল যখন অধিনায়ক, তখন তিনি ওর সম্পর্কে কি কি বলেছিলেন। আশরাফুলকে যে কোচ দেখতে পারেন না, সেটা এখন দলের বাইরেরও সবাই জানে। আবার পারফর্ম না করেও কেউ কেউ জেমির সমর্থন পাচ্ছে। এটা কেন হবে?
প্রশ্ন : আশরাফুলের আজকে এ দশা কেন?
মাশরাফি : মূল দায় আশরাফুলেরই। তবে একজনকে যদি দলে নিয়ে বলে দেন তুমি ব্যাক-আপ ক্রিকেটার, তাহলে তার আত্মবিশ্বাস কোথায় গিয়ে ঠেকবে? আরো অবাক হয়েছি আশরাফুলকে ব্যাটিং পাওয়ার প্লেতে খেলানো দেখে। যার আত্মবিশ্বাস নেই, যে একটা সিঙ্গেল নিতে ১০ বার ভাবছে, নেমেই তার কাছে চার-ছক্কা চাইবেন কেন আপনি? সাত নম্বরে নামলে হয় পাওয়ার প্লের ব্যাটিং করতে হবে, নয়তো বিপর্যয় থেকে দলকে উদ্ধার করার চাপ ঘিরে ধরবে। নড়বড়ে আত্মবিশ্বাস নিয়ে যার কোনোটিই সম্ভব নয়। আমি হলে আশরাফুলকে চারে খেলাতাম। আশরাফুলকে নিয়ে কোনো কথাই এখন মানুষ শুনতে চায় না। তবে একসময় এই আশরাফুলকে দিয়েই আমরা ম্যাচ জেতার স্বপ্ন দেখতাম।
প্রশ্ন : দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা ম্যাচের পর ড্রেসিংরুমে উষ্মা প্রকাশ করেছেন কোচ। সেখানে নাকি তিনি বলেছেন যে ব্যাটসম্যানরা এমন ভুলগুলো নেটেও করে আসছেন। তার মানে চার বছর ধরেই একই ভুল করে আসছেন ব্যাটসম্যানরা। যা দেখেও শুধরে দেননি কোচ!
মাশরাফি : এ ব্যাপারে আমি ঢালাওভাবে কোচকে দায়ী করব না। কোচ আমার ভুল ধরিয়ে দেবেন, শুধরেও দেবেন। কিন্তু তার চেয়ে বেশি সচেতন থাকতে হবে আমাকে। আমি আমার ভুলটা সবচেয়ে আগে ধরতে পারব। সেভাবে নেটে তৈরিও হতে হবে। এখন আমি নিজে যদি তা করতে না চাই, তাহলে কোচ কি করবেন? শচীন টেন্ডুলকারের পেছনে কি কোচ সারা দিন লেগে থাকে নাকি? এটা খেলোয়াড়দের বুঝতে হবে। আগে নিজেকে নিজের সাহায্য করতে হবে।
প্রশ্ন : ডেভ হোয়াটমোর এবং জেমি সিডন্সের তুলনা করবেন?
মাশরাফি : দুজন দু'ধরনের। ডেভ খুবই ভালো প্ল্যান করত। দলের কাছ থেকে বের করে নিতে জানত। আর জেমি দারুণ ব্যাটিং কোচ।
প্রশ্ন : বাংলাদেশের এ দলটার জন্য কেমন কোচ দরকার?
মাশরাফি : দেখুন, ২০০৭ সালে আমাদের দলে তামিম-সাকিব ছিল। কিন্তু আজকের মতো অবস্থায় ছিল না। সেদিনের চেয়ে এখন দলে অনেক ভালো পারফর্মার আছে। আমার মনে হয় এ অবস্থায় আমাদের খুব ভালো একজন প্ল্যানার দরকার।
প্রশ্ন : দেশি না বিদেশি, কোচিং স্টাফদের ঘিরে এমন একটি বিতর্ক আছে। আপনি নিজে কি মনে করেন?
মাশরাফি : এটা বোর্ডের সিদ্ধান্তের ব্যাপার। বিদেশি কোচদের সঙ্গে আমাদের মূল সমস্যাটা ভাষাগত। হয় ওরা বোঝাতে পারে না কিংবা আমরা বুঝতে পারি না। তাই কোচিং স্টাফের ক্ষেত্রে একটা সমন্বয় থাকলে মন্দ হয় না। আবারও বলছি, এটা বোর্ডের ব্যাপার।

He said exactly what we have been saying in this forum and nothing new. I also like the fact that he is blaming the players themselves for the mistakes made and not Siddons. His remark about Tendulkar should be the headline...He is being blunt and objective. Noticeably, he didn't say a word about the selectors for his omission when it was actually their fault for not picking him,,, not Siddons's. But after these comments, I wonder whether he will be in the squad against the Australian team.

Well, Mashrafe said that Siddons is a very good batting coach and I agree on that. I would like to see Siddons as a batting coach for the national team and batting consultant for academy team for another couple of years but not as a head coach.

According to PA, BCB also asked Shakib about what's his opinion about having or leaving out Taklu DA. And he said he wants to leave it on BCB, which clearly indicates that he's also not that interested to have Taklu DA. He had a plan and a vision in mind, well He should be judged based the promises that he made and how he kept them. We should not only take the world cup into consideration, we should take into consideration everything since 2009 up until 2011. and based on that there are more batting collapses than successes! so Sorry, man! I gave him enough benefit of doubt as a Fan. I think He has had enough time to instill his vision into reality which obviously no matter how you look at it backfired. Facts will remain facts! no matter whether you support Siddons or against him. Everytime in his interview, he would always emphasize how he is building a team with the World Cup '11 on focus. Build a core group of players. and he kept telling us that Bangladeshi Batsmen do not know how to play basic cricket. Suppose i accepted the fact that OK Siddons did a good job with our batting, but for me as a fan, in recent times, I have seen too many batting collapses to believe that!

If you say that that is because of the Bangladeshi batsmen/people mentality, then with this attitude i assure you, We will never conquer World Cricket. Simple as that!

our batsman doesn't have guts or brains to face against world class bowlers....they get scared...now how do you want a batting coach to cure the players fears...our batsmen lacks the brain, the guts, the fitness, the spirit, the determination except that one kid Shakib....

i don't think our players even go upto the coach asking for help...they think, oh well coach is there....areh beta, if you have any problem go to the coach ask for help...he is getting paid for that...

This surely will continue for some time. I guess there will be some major changes in the team. A lot of these newbie middle order with be replaced by some older/experienced guys.


A biased man only can make such team rules, where he gives flexibility to some to improve on natural game and for some it was strict team rule to play against their natural abilities. So he destroyed some to get some dumb *** non performing, obedient middle order. What a bad news for or cricket.
